I grew up Catholic, 12 years in Catholic schools, church every morning before classes, one hour of religious education daily, church again on Sunday.
We were taught very specific things about our religion, Mary was a virgin, Jesus never married, the Shroud of Turin was the burial cloth of Jesus who was crucified and rose from the dead and then ascended into heaven. God created man in his image, not through a process of evolving from apes, etc.
Now I am seeing so many things to contradict what I was taught. Testing on the Shroud indicates it may not be from the time of Jesus. Burial customs from that time had one cloth for the face and another for the rest of the body, not just one piece as the Shroud is. Books like The DaVinci Code, Cross Bones and even the bible refer to the brothers, sisters, even wife and children of Jesus.
So I am beginning to question the "truths" I was raised with.
Have the advances in science caused you to question your faith?

nothing can explain your queries about life except the BIBLE. i, too, was born and raised Catholic. I studied in an exclusive school which is strictly Catholic. and yet, as i grew up i encountered HESUS through the BIBLE. There are so many stories from men in these times. But when you read the Bible you will truly understand everything in life. I will pray that you will be enlightened.

The Bible is the Greatest Story Ever Told. People have always been fascinated by it and always will be. The Davinci Code is Fictional and mixed with just enough truth to make it interesting. My take on it is that for catholics like us ;God has given us the message through the life and example shown by his son ,that we are to use the gift of human life and intelligence to better the lives of others to the best of our abilities. God gave man a brain and meant for us to develop science and technology. When some people use their gifts to find ways to harm others or be corrupt, they are forgetting to follow the "code" God has all ready set out for us to follow. It is up to the rest of us to remember that God has all ready given us an example to follow and we should challenge those who are less than ethical and protect each other from them in a lawful and moral ways. Science should not shake your faith it should make you realize how amazing this world is. Pop culture should never be taken so seriously that it makes you question what you believe.
