What is your reaction with PAGCOR plans of a Vegas like casino in Manila?

I feel bad because there is no questions that gambling will generate a lot of revenue to the Philippine government. It will also create jobs, but what I kind of jobs? It will be mostly a low paying job. Why don't they think of other solutions to our problem and not through gambling.

yeh..ur right...it's really a bad idea to put that kind of thing...our forefathers were making it hard to fight for our country and we kind of give them a gambling city?!?!?!?it is really disappointing that our government were thinking of that greediness....sorry for my words

I think differently. This is not meant to say that it would be perfect to do something like it here in our country but I believe that we shouldn't be too afraid of 'change.' PAGCOR's plans could generate a lot of revenue for the Philippine government which may be used to improve a lot of infrastructures, and helping the general public in return BUT that is yet to be proven.
About poverty, well I don't think poor people would feel inclined to gamble with their souls on the line; I think, it is just a matter of self-control and I don't think it would be targeting the hungry masses living in depressed areas but rather be more of a way to decrease the number of impoverished people. It certainly can attract more tourist here (just think of Las Vegas itself), wouldn't it be great if there are more things our country can offer to leisure-loving foreigners? It could actually do a lot for tourism.
About jobs, well I wouldn't worry too much about it creating numerous low-paying jobs, the important thing is - that these jobs can put food on people's tables while they are not trying to exploit them. Did you know that there are countless numbers of people living here, looking for work, and landing a job on one of the most promising projects the country can ever take on can be a blessing for the granted majority.
Conclusion: Let's just wait and see if it works out, and if it does, there are a lot of things to be gained BUT if it doesn't turn out as it promised, we can still go on ahead without losing a foot, right?.. and look for other various creative ways to uplift our economy.
Be not afraid of change, but at the same time not forget to keep in mind one of the most thought-provoking maxims: Caveat Emptor.

This is the same argument PAGCOR has. They are afraid to change and go for a legititmate project.

While we as ordinary citizens disagree to that, the govt think that this is the easiest way to gain revenues. Did you know that this is the first time PAGCOR borrowed money because they ran out of funds? You may wonder where that gambling money goes? I just hope that filipinos will not be drowned from these vices.
