Why do you write?

A few years back someone told me "Writing is like having a conversation with onself". I wondered at that time... what did it mean? But the more I think about it today the more convinced I'am. I mean think about it,when you are troubled and write about it dont you feel lighter? when you are happy and write about it dont you feel happier? Writing is a flow of thoughs from your mind into your hand and finally onto a blank sheet. Thoughts that are so profound that you can't risk ignoring them; it might never occure to you again.
When I write its mostly about feelings, it's about what my innerself is feeling at that point which after going through the filter of the mind finally gets translated into ink. Maybe thoughts are messages from the inner self saying "Hey it's time to talk" and what better way to do it than jot it down.
I like writing, maybe I am not good at it but I write for myself,I write to understand myself better and above all I write to converse with myself to connect with me within. Everyone has their own reason for writing, everyone needs a reason... What is your reason?

I write primarily to serve God and help people understand the Word of God.
I am a Christian, a child of God, baptized into Christ on October 1, 1989 and I belong to the Church of Christ founded and headed by Christ as shown in Acts Chapter 2. I am given the gift of knowledge
and understanding Bible Greek and I translate the Word of God from Greek to English PLAINLY - Greek word into its English equivalent with additional words for grammar purposes written in italics so that readers may delete them when they so desire.
I have already published GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS
(Greek-English), THE WILL New Testament (Greek to English), ELEMENTS of SALVATION, The Right Way, GOD, ORIGIN, TRANSFER into PERFECTION, GREEK-ENGLISH (Grammar & Vocabulary), WORDS in THE WILL New Testament, and others shown at
http://www.lulu.com/arseniajoaquin
I have seen the versions being circulated worldwide and they are generally admitted to be 80% NOT translations. My translations are 99.99% translations and I see the truth, beauty, and sweetness of the Word of God. I hope these books could also help people understand the Word of God and be saved.
Some copies are sold and I hope that more will be sold when the books are placed on the Global Distribution Service. I expect a lot of money to come from the books so I donated THE WILL New
Testament (Greek to English) to the Alpha Omega Seniars Intl Foundation, Inc. for senior citizens, widows, orphans, disabled, poor intellectuals, etc. I'm also donating at least 20% of the proceeds from
other books that I publish. As soon as I finish GENESIS TO DEUTERONOMY (Greek-English), I intend to donate it to the Church.

Appreciate your comment... different people, different views, different reasons but one medium. I wish you the best for your charity and your cause.

I write because I have so many stories in my head along with a good imagination, that I have to get things down on paper, correct Cd, and hard drive and if I have enough money after I get a cell phone, on flash drive. I am not into that feeling stuff -that comes under the complaint department, but stories of what happened after the show finished (Yes I write fan fiction) and making a novel based on a supposed game and turning it into a fantasy is what I like as well as hoping that I am half as good at writing mysteries as Agatha Christie and Mary Higgins Scott. So you see writing is not a carthrisis (excuse the spelling) to relieve myself of my mind's troubles. But then I am a fiction writer.

I have just one question, if you rate feelings in the "compliant department" how do u expect to connect with your readers? good story, good imagination all are great but dont your readers at some point need to feel your story? or does it just make for mindless reading material?
Maybe its not just one question after all.

I have not really written anything like a novel, but I have written ebooks and reports that help other online. When I am writing I am visualizing that I am actually talking to someone, just not myself. It makes for better conversational writing.
It would be nice to sit down and write a couple of real books about my life as a way to help other kids cope with crap they receive from others.
Just not ready to express it all right yet.
I have written a poem and started a few songs, I play guitar, and I get really emotional when doing those things. So I do agree that we are talking to ourselves a lot.

Appreciate your response. Different people, different views, different reasons but one medium. I guess thats what makes the world more interesting.
I hope you write your book soon, I'll look forward to it.

I feel I write for myself and others at the same time for the sole reason that for as much as I would like to be an island or a god, I am not. I like what you say about the filter of the mind finally getting translated to ink. I have a system that filters in. This 'filtering in' system is me examining my innerself from outside (incorporating my best interpretation of dimensions of thought/feeling processes that are not my own, but collectively the worlds). Of course, I'm in there somewhere.
