I'm from the United States. Here we have the cent (100 cents makes a dollar). Coins are 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 cents and the $1 coin. You don't see the 50 cent and $1 coins often. In notes, we have 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 in common usage. There are bigger ones but you almost never see them. The $2 note is also pretty rare.

Currently before the Euro takes over, we use pounds sterling as our currency in the UK with the denominations being: 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p 100p and 200p all of these being coins. Then we have notes £5, £10, £20 and £50. Sadly we lost the £1 which I thought was very useful, but instead of the note we have a coin in place.
