Is your life in your control?

As a small child, I really had big dreams. I wanted to have a magic stick with which I could have anything I desired in this world. But those weren't realistic dreams. When I grew up and was studying in class 6th I was very determined to become a successful doctor as my father, who himself is a very successful doctor, was the source of my inspiration. I started focussing more on science subject and got great marks. One day, when I was preparing for my medical entrance exams, a popular palmist visited our house and saw my hands and said I will not become a doctor, rather I will be in the field related to business. At that time I sulked as I was really keen on fulfilling my dreams and that I hated anything related to business. In the meanwhile, my parents separated and my mother was left all on her own. She is a housewife and at that time I thought of earning money as soon as possible instead of wasting 7 years in medical studies so I graduated in hotel management but I didn't got paid well initially. I was not in a position to send money to my mother so I decided to do MBA. I did that and see, today I'm related with business anyway! Truly, life has never been in my control. What about you? were you able to do whatever you aimed of? Is life in your control somewhat? Or do have a similar story like me and feel that you have always been controlled by your life, your destiny?

Your life has got some good challenges and ultimately you have succeeded in the place where you was to as of Destiny. Actually the thing is all the same with everyone. I also thought to be a scientist but anyhow the craze of engineering grown me up as an Engineer, but again the astrologer said i will own a business. And really anyhow I have to leave the field of engineering after a rich 6 years experience in mid management level. And today I am in my own business. So we can try but can't control our destiny, don't know why and how.

Oh! you have a bit similar story like mine. Life can be so complicated and full of surprises, I never thought of when I was a kid. But reality is reality and it bites many times. How I wish my life was in my total control. I think things would have been different. anyways, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing your story; it's very interesting. We cannot be in complete control of our lives, but we can certainly be in control most of the time. There is a term in psychology called "locus of control." You are only truly happy to the extent that you feel that you are in control of your life. For example, one has the choice to be responsible for their feelings. If you are stuck in traffic, you can choose to be stressed out, or you can decide to accept the situation and view it as an opportunity to develop patience and self control. Napoleon Hill once observed that, "within every adversity is the seed of an equal or greater opportunity or advantage." Also, when you have concrete, specific goals which you are working toward, you feel an enormous sense of control. That's why it is so imperative that people have worthy goals that they are constantly working toward achieving.

Your response is very inspiring indeed! Its like seeing a glass of half-empty or half-full and choice is ours. Our elders say that whatever happens in life happens for the good.So I do take it that way. But I don't feel like planning my life as I think my plans will fail and something else will happen with me for good or for bad.your response is appreciated!

I have never believed that I would ever have total control of my life. Too many things happen around me beyond my control. Too many changes occur day after day. I may want something to happen, but other things may happen and what I want may not be possible. As a child, I have always dreamed to be a rich, busy career woman who never has a single idle moment in her life. So as I grew up, Oh yes, I worked hard and achieved the positions I have always hoped to have, but I didn't become rich. I had just enough that I needed. But that didn't disappoint me. I may not have all the money and power and great career that I wanted, but I have my family, I have love, a peaceful and harmonious relationship, and i don't think I can ask for more. I don't yearn to control my own life. I ask God to lead the way... always the best way for me, and I follow. While God controls my life, my life is happy and that's all I ever want.

I think our life is in our hands, we are the one making decisions. If we plan to finish our studies But some situations make it complicated, so we will just choose to stop it and make some decision that will make it better. We always have choice to make our plans fulfilled, but some problems that will come make it change.
