So I will put it is simple terms.
How you make money:
Answering quality and lengthy posts.
Asking quality and lengty post.
Posting pictures.
Tagging discussions.
Referring other.
Rating others posts and replies.
How to change you avatar:
You go to 'edit your preferences' and it will take you straight to the place to change your avatar.
How to get people to answer your posts:
Ask original questions, and whatever you do, do not copy others posts.
Why do we have interests?
Because it makes it easier for everyone to find posts about certain topics. Whenever you post a question, it is best to choose an interest that corresponds with the question in order to get more replies.
I hope this info has helped.
Just remember, we are all here to get along and have a good time while posting. We do not seek out arguements or debates.
Oh, and I almost forgot,
The stars above your name:
They reflect your rating quality. We all have the opportunity to rate and your star is how good, or bad, everyone has rated you. Hopefully your stars goes up instead of down. If it goes down, that means people are not liking your posts or replies.
Well good luck to all the new members and I hope this info has helped.
So, have any of you members who have been here over time ever been so lost on mylot, where you didn't have the first clue on what to do? I know I did when I first started.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I have asked questions and thank God nice people like you have answered them for me. I would be lost if it wasn't for people chimming in on my post to give me advice. This was a great discussion that you started and I hope all fairly new and the newest will read your post and learn some tricks to mylot. Thanks again for sharing this and have a great day.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience and knowledge.I definitely had a lot of questions, when I first started out here at Mylot, but I received lots of help from more experienced Mylotters, and know I think I am actually getting the hang of it.
Thank you for the post - you put all the answers in one place, which is very helpful to have.

As you can see, I'm not excatly new to MyLot, but I still managed to learn something from your post. It's nice to get that out in the open. I really didn't know that tags made us more money. I usually skip that section, but now that I know what I know, I won't skip it anymore. I try to only answer the posts that I have something to say about. If I don't have anything to say, why answer? It's just a waste of time. Thanks again for this information, and you're definitely going to get a good rating from me.

I think you've written a very nice "How To" for newcomers to myLot-- straightforward and to the point. Nice job!
The only thing I would add would be about "posting photos." First of all, the only photos you EARN from are the ones posted to discussions, or to interests. The ones posted to your profile page do not earn income. In my experience, you get slightly more for adding a photo to an interest, than to a discussion-- but the difference is small.
In response to those who want to know why myLot doesn't just post "how much you make" for each activity, I just wanted to add that earnings vary from person to person, based on the "value" the myLot earnings algorithm assigns to any given member, on any given day. Because it is not a "fixed" amount per post, there's no way they can post how much someone will earn for their participation.

One thing that does kind of bother me about Mylots is the fact that they don't list anywhere how you make money. Every other site that I ahve been on displays:
If you do this you get this much
if you do that you get that much so on and so forth...
It certainly would clear up a lot of the guess work.
Otherwise I love this site.

Thank you for posting this info. I'm new so I'm still trying to figure everything out. I have had fun so far on myLot. It is interesting how the earnings work though. =)

I think that was very nice of you to explaine to these newbies here. The problem is the new people dont want to take the time and read the guidlines here on mylot. And by us catering to their every wimb we are not letting them learn anything. And yes we were all clueless when we first started.

This is very helpful indeed. You summarize what a new mylotters need to know. Most of my post when I started consist of a few sentences. Even though I still post a few sentences, I make it a point to at least convey what I need to say.
