I know that everyone gets down sometimes, but when you get real depressed, what do you do to cheer yourself up?
I like to meditate. It really calms me down, mellows me out, and soothes my depression. I also sit back and take a good look at how wonderful my life really is.
I have a loving family, a nice home, a nice car, even material things to make me happy.
I like to look at the wonderful things in my life to cheer me up, what do you like to do to cheer yourself up when you are depressed.

I try to or else I just go to sleep. I can't take it for the first day. The best thing is to think about God. Have faith in him and thank him for his blessings. It gives you hope and peace.

I like to listen to music. Especially Green Day. There's something about music that changes my mood. There are times when I want to be alone to cry, so I'll shut myself in my room and blast music. It makes me feel better about myself, then I'm ready to face the world again.

When I am depressed I usually watch a good comedy movie ,go for a walk or call a close friend and talk my heart out ,that is if they are ready to listen, lol.
Sometimes when they aren't available I just work on the problem that is causing the depression , write down the possible reasons and the possible solutions and after finding it ,start acting on it right away and if that isn't possible ,then I plan the course of action.Getting busy often takes the focus off the depression and gives us a better chance to correct our mood.

I like both of the responses that precede my own. Music and reverence in the LORD are both good. My favorite group is Pink Floyd, and my favorite solo artist is Norah Jones.
What seems to work best for me is to think of something funny. This may sound retarded to you, but sometimes it really lifts me up to repeat silly lines from movies to myself right out loud (not in public, of course).
I read a really good response to a similar discussion, where the responder said depression is related to a lacking in serotonin. They said bananas and sunshine can help restore it.
