Are you brave when it comes to having the needle? Do you go all cold and nervous? Do you dread the thought of a needle coming anywhere near you? Do you dread the dentist fearing an injection, do you dread having a blood test? Do you watch the needle go in, do you close your eyes, how do you deal with it?Do you have a friend or partner who has to inject themselves every day with insulin, does that freak you out, do they have to do it away from you, or are you used to it?I have to go for blood tests two to three times a year and they stick a needle into the middle of my arm, I always watch when the needle goes in as it fascinates me seeing all the blood go into the tube.
However I couldn't ever have a tattoo done
How are you when it comes to the needle?

When I was little I was sick a lot. I had so many shots and I hated them I fought like a tiger. It took two nurses and the doctor to hold me down to give me a shot. Back then that was ok to do. I will avoid shots or needles to this day because of it. I didnt even get my ears pierced till I was 25 because I hated needles so badly. I do get tetnus shots when needed but I Cant look at the needle going into my skin. Same when they have to draw blood . I have to look away. I Hate needles and Blood lol

I have to give myself two needle injections twice a day of heparin blood thinner in the abdomen and while I"m used to it by now it stings but its the amount of deep tissue bruising I mind .I look like I have been in a very bad car accident. I have to be tested constantly for my INR blood levels so needles are a breeze for me by this point.

I dont have a problem giving it to others. ( i was in a nursing course some years ago and I had to give insulin to around 20 patients.) i dont mind having a needle for medical purpose. I am afraid to have a tatoo. I think its intrusive and its there for life

Injections do not bother me at all. I just start breathing deeply and before I know it, it's over. My daughter, however, passes out and must be injected or have blood drawn lying down. My son got his first tattoo last year and he said it really didn't hurt at all, but I guess it depends where you get the tattoo.

As a kid I did not so much like Injections.Whenever there was talk of going to a Doctor the first thing that I would ask was if he would administer some Injection to me.But as I grew up I no longer feared the Injection.I think I must have had the most number of Injections in my family. It was when I contracted Pneumonia and as part of the treatment I had to go to the Doctor daily and get myself an Injection. This went on for around a Month or so everday. After this treatment i had lots of puncture marks on my forearms and also my skin had become dark.It took another month for these things to go away.

When I discovered I would have to inject myself several times a day with Insulin I really was not too happy. Injecting is something I dreaded and always feared that I would not be able to cope.
I have diabetes . . . and I really no choice but to inject myself with insulin.
I guess once I got started it was not too bad and I got used to it. I would prefer not to have to do it . . . but I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Hello wolfie. I am not brave enough when I have to receive an injection because I always feel nervous and then my muscle would get stiff and then it is very painful in the muscle to be injected. I have been afraid of interjections ever since I was a child. While being injected, I never watch the nurse doing this as I don't dare to. I am a coward. lol. Thanks for your discussion, dear friend.

Just accept that it's going to happen. The anticipation is more than the pain.

I personally don't fear almost anything. Needles don't scare me. However I know many people who are afraid and I just keep talking to them about how it's nothing to be afraid of to calm them down.

I hate having injections and needles near me, but the best way i think to cope with it, is to look away, relax your muscles as much as you can and count, if you count then you are focussing your mind on that rather than the needle and therefore you are more likely to stay relaxed and calm.

i am feeling pain even when i am reading your post. I am very much scared about any kind of needle try to go insite my body, from childhood to this age i always scream and shout and protest as much as i can when the nurse/doctor comes with a needle and want to make me understand that this is the best way we can treat you for this. I really am feeling some pain thinking my last blood test few months back....

Although I'm afraid of doctors and hospitals (bad previous experiences), needles actually fascinate me. I watch the needle go in, because I love watching the blood come out; it feels like such a radical idea, the nurse taking something out from inside of me. I also regularly donate blood, so I've become accustomed even to the large needles they use for that. I plan on getting a tattoo done, too, but not for the reason of watching the needle go in & out of me... I'm still looking for a meaningful image to tattoo onto myself.
