wow thats really hard to say. It really denpends on there maturity.I think 15-16 would be the age for my kids. Its just not safe anymore. I can remember going out with friends at like 11 but I would never let my kids out at that age with out a adult.

I remember walking 6 blocks to go to the teen hang out with my friend who lived across the street for ice cream when I was like 11 or 12 years old. And I agree with you that it is hard to decided on a good age with how things have changed since we were children. I guess it would probably be for me somewhere between the ages of 14 and 16. It would depend on my children's maturity level and the friends that they would be going out with. But for a date, they have to wait until they are 16(just like I had to).

with no parents at all? i think it depends on the maturity of the child. i would say around 13 if with a group of friends that i trusted. then again we live in a pretty safe rural area so i may be more relaxed then some.

I think 16 is about the right age because in most states you can drive then and lust you can get away from weird people creeping you out, because if you had to walk away you probally couldn't get away fast enough or the weird person would just follow you. I'm afaid of letting my 10 year old out even in the evening hours just because of all the crimmals and sick people that could be watching or even lurking out side our fence. So that's why I think 16 is the age when kids can start to stay out longer.

Small town or big city? I spent my teens in Reno, not such a good idea. Now I live in a small town and I am in the loop about what goes on around here. The privilige should not revolve around age but responsibility. If you trust your kids and if they are trustworthy, give them until curfew. My kids are 13, 11 & 9, and my 13 year old can stay out until 11, but my girls come home before dark. Also, nobody goes out alone, always in a group. Small town or not, we have our share of problems too.

Well if there was a parent then I would say about 10 or so but only if I knew the parent very well. If they wanted to go out alone then I would say maybe 15 but more likely 16.
