Well, do you want to talk about religion (as your title suggests) or do you want to talk about Jesus (as you state in the body of your post)? The two aren't mutually exclusive.
Jesus was a good rabbi. His ideas were a little out there, but ultimately, they were founded on sound principles. He was only human, though, and it's a pity his followers made such a mess of his teachings after his passing.
Further to that, his followers proceeded to pervert his lessons, twisting the man into something he couldn't have been, as Jesus was not the messiah. He failed to fulfill the messianic prophecies.
With this being true, Christianity does still have some valuable lessons to teach, however the necessity of a savior is one where it's lacking.
(Is this the type of discussion you were looking for?)

This is just a headsup to let you know that I do have a rebuttal under my sleeves and it's a doozy. (Doosey? Doosie?)
Real life's been crazy busy the last couple days, but I've got my response about halfway finished, so bear with me. :D

Well yeah this could definetly be a discussion I was looking for. Haha, your right the two dont go hand in hand. And I also agree that Jesus's "followers" or call themselves his followers have made a mess of his teachings, in the Book of Acts they made a couple mistakes (not pertaining Jesus's teachings but there own personal walk) and regrettably are making more and more throughout history and to this day.
But I was wondering how he failed to fulfill the messianic prophecies? According to my study (which actually wasnt as in depth as it could have been) there is about 60 prochecies in the Old testament pertaining to the messiah with over 300 references and Jesus met all of them. For one man to meet even that many prophecies is like one in a billion if not more. That is definetly a good study that I will get more in depth about though.
To me Jesus was either a crazy man with some sort of strange powers or he was who he claimed to be, cause he couldnt be just a good teacher if he lied about who he was, that would make me question evrything he did if he was a liar. I mean he was so out there that he would have to be telling the truth about all his claims or completly crazy. Good discussion. (I hope to hear your rebuttal)

He's a fairytale... The likings of Snowwhite, Cinderella and others.
The bible is just another storybook of which you can learn some life-lessons, but taking (any) religion too serious can lead to awful dramas...
Look at Iraq and Al Qaeda (muslim), Moon (sekt), Ireland (Christian/Protestant).
History learned us nothing because (any) religion still is the root of most wars...

your right religion can be the root and has been the root of many wars, but Im not talking about religion Im talking about a real and personal relationship with God(Jesus). Religion is boring, lame and condemning but thru the power of Gods spirit Ive seen healings, excercisisms and felt peace surpassing any high or excitment Ive ever felt. Not that its about signs and wonders but it is fruit and manifestations of the holy spirit.

i think i would like some more direction for this discussion, what is it you want to hear about Jesus Christ?
maybe you want to know about how he grew up? or maybe you want to discuss what he was thinking as he walked this earth? or is it you want to discuss why you chose him as your savior? or maybe you want to discuss why others choose not to follow "his teachings"...what exactly do you want out of this discussion. i know i wouldn't be interested in a post all about everyone saying "Jesus Christ is Lord" ok what's accomplished by saying that, did u learn anything or teach me anything?????

We could talk about any of the above. Hmmmm, why I chose him, to tell you the truth I think he chose me first otherwise Id still be all messed up and definetly not interested in seeking to please somone I cant see. Or choosing to trust and believe somthing that is soooo hard to at times. Not a holy roller but I cant be convinced any other way. This discusion is totally open so any questions and comments feel free.
