Will Meredeth & McDreamy stay together?

The preview for next week shows Derek saying that he came to this hospital to be chief, and that Meredeth stands in the way of that.
Do you really think they will pull this relationship back apart? I'm hoping not. We just had to spend a whole year seeing Mer miserable about not being with him. Let them just be happy for a while!

I think they'll end up staying together. Last night when Derek asked Bailey about it, she said something like it was better to be happy and in love together than alone as chief. I think Derek is struggling with his desire to get ahead in his job and it's still in the back of his mind about Meredith giving up when she was in the water. I wonder if he's afraid if he gives up on being chief that he'll end up losing Meredith too? It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I totally agree with you! If he does break off the relationship with Meredith, he's a total loser. What kind of guy would ditch a girl he waited over a year to try to be with? The chief may say he can't have it all, but if he's determined to, he could always go to another hospital to become chief. He should at least do that before he completely dumps her.
