Actually i am in a mood for foods right now so i would like to respond on this topic first.Let me see i love both , but i prefer more butter , though not simply butter but some more topings to make it a heavy sandwitch before i put it in my stomach.
But if i am in a hurry then i do with jams, because with jams i dont prefer any other topings.
Happy food de`voirs to you.

It really depends on what type of bread I am going to eat. Sometimes I like just butter. Other times it is just jam. While sometimes I like to add both. If it is a more dryer tasting bread. I usaully add butter and jam.

what I always do is spread my butter or margarine on the other half of my bread and our seri kaya or jam on the other half of the bread. I love the taste of the mixed of this things on my bread. I have the recipe for seri kaya just in case you would like to try them out.
Seri Kaya
Ingredients
• 10 eggs
• 420ml thick coconut milk, extracted from 2 grated coconuts
• 575g sugar
• 3 pandan (fragrant screwpine) leaves, knotted
Method
Beat eggs and sugar well with a hand whisk. Put beaten eggs and pandan leaves in a saucepan over a very gentle heat to dissolve the sugar.
When sugar has dissolved, remove the pan away from the heat and stir in thick coconut milk, mix well, then strain the mixture into a double boiler pot.
Cook over rapidly boiling water. Keep stirring the mixture with a long wooden spoon until it thickens; top up the boiling water in the lower pot whenever necessary.
Then wrap the lid with a big enough tea-towel (to prevent water dripping into the custard), replace it on the pot and steam the custard for two to three hours. (Do not stir the custard during this time.)
When kaya is ready, discard the pandan leaves.

I prefer butter because then you can add extra things like meat, cheese, or vegetables.

hello uramit,
i can't say i love eating bread with butter only or jam only.that will be unfair to both of them.rather i love eating them both as a mixture.initially when i was a kid i used to love butter and i didn't prefer jam because it tastes very much sweet.but sometime later one of my uncle suggested me to spread a mixture of butter and jam on the bread and eat it.first spread butter and then jam.that way the sweetness of jam gets reduced but the taste of both the things is preserved.and also that way less butter and jam will be used for a bread.
from then on i am eating my bread this way though i have reduced my butter intake due to fitness issues.

Sometimes I like butter. Specially if it had been a long time since I ate bread with butter. But there are also times when I would like 'flavor' thus jam is preferred.
Usually in terms of jam, I like strawberry jam. Or orange. Nothing too strong nor too sweet. A good amount of sweet-sour or sour-sweet taste is good.

I like both, but not at the same time. Sometimes I'll feel like butter and others I like jelly.
