No, now the one that works the hardest gets paid minimum wage while their bosses get the gold. Everytime you think you might get ahead somebody comes and pulls the rug out from under you. Things must have been better when your mom was growing up.

Hello Kteja_86, Welcome to the world we live in. You will not find my answer to be pessimistic, rather brutally honest and optimistic. What you are referring to is: Performance based reward. And, it is a key principle of capitalism. Those who not only work the hardest, but more importantly those work the smartest are most highly rewarded in the capitalist world. And, yes this philosophy is still very much alive! In the socialist world, the idealistic desire to render all persons equal in every way is a tremendous disincentive to working harder and smarter for greater benefit. By this I mean that if you are a better worker ... more conscientious and diligent than your co-worker, and you are paid the same amount, then the natural tendency is for you to stop working harder because he's getting the same pay as you. The key to making it in this world is to make every attempt to render yourself irreplacable. Now in truth, almost no one is truly irreplacable. However, the more you dedicate to learning about your business, and business in general the better off you will be. This is working smarter. For example: if you've figured out a way to achieve an end result quicker and less expensively, then quietly test your theory. If it pans out, then document your theory. Then, present it to your bosses boss. You don't ever need to consciously hurt others as you climb the ladder of success (that would be negative Karma), but you can certainly make a concerted effort to climb that ladder by developing the grey matter between your ears. Work smarter, look for better alternatives, remain open to helping others as you help yourself, and be willing to take calculated risks, and you will succeed! Tenacity, perserverence, integrity, fortitude, curiosity, open-mindedness, fair-mindedness, analytical competency, and humility are a true recipe for success. Always look for jobs that offer you the opportunity to learn something new, develop your business accuity, and where there is a real opportunity for advancement. If any of those three criteria is absent, then take the job if you must, but keep your eye open for a better opportunity. Never, ever give up! Perserverence is the real key! Good luck! -Ladyluna
