I think a good hotel is hard to find. it's not just good clean facilities, but warm, REAL staff that treat you like a person and not just another occupant in the big hotel. It means that while you are in a foreign land, (well most of the time), you can still feel comfortable and safe and important. It's a good hotel when you know you won't be lost or helpless when an emergency crops up. it's a good hotel when you have polite and sincere staff who are ready to go more than the extra mile for you. What all can you add and how many points of mine you liked.

Oh well I have stayed in many hotels, and I know that some of these hotels are very friendly and warm reception when you enter the hotel, and they make sure that you do feel safe and that you are important and if you need anything while you are there that they are only to obliging to help you. I like your points and I like the hotels in Australia that I have stayed at they were very friendly.

A good hotel to me, is one that I know for sure is clean and the sheets, etc are especially clean. Where the staff treats you well and not just looking for a tip either. I know sometimes you go to a four or 5 star hotel and are treated like royalty.. UNTIL... the richer guy/woman comes in and immediately you are forgotten. I would rather go to a more humble hotel and be treated well at all times.

for a good hotel first comes the ambiance and then the staff!!! it includes facility and food too... only a hotel with good staff or only good ambiance does not makes it good...

A good hotel consist of a nice smelling room and a good comfortable bed. Also their rooms has to be clean and doesn't have any nasty stuff laying around the carpet. Definitely, the bathroom must be clean and sanitary. The service at the hotel has to good also. The room service people must do their job nicely and have to be honest about it. One time I was at a Day's Inn and one of the room service people stole my digital camera when she came into clean the room. I felt stupid for leaving it on the bed when we went out. Damn it, the hotel didn't compensate for it either.

The hotel should give priority to customers than the profit. Profit is important in every business, but approach to the customers play a major role in retaining the customers. The staff of the hotel should take due care to solve the problems of the customers as early as possible

As far as I'm concerned, the hotels that I went to all have excellent and superior services. The management are good, the staff are courteous and work efficiently and best of all, the food was delicious and served hot.
There may be some hotels that can't offer you the same thing. I once went to a hotel near the beach and saw cockroaches lurking around the room. Now that's annoying and didn't dare to go back there again. :)

Look at the stars, my friend. The more stars, the better the service will likely be. But of course, the price will likely be higher too. :P

I was only once in a realy bad hotel. All the rest were as good as you described. I always felt a very warm and welcoming hospitality. I think food is one of the most important things, as well as the level of hygene and facilities.
I like to have a good gym and a clean swimming pool. If there is a slide in the swimmingpool, all the better...
Good food is very important since it is part of the experience - I think that meals are one of the my favourite hobbies...

Its the customer service which needs to be an important factor of a good hotel. Then the hospitality which comes next to service specially what is expected by foreign customers.Other things is the quality of food and cleanliness.
This happened in our college trip.we were to kerala and after site seeing our whole crew struck up in a mountain as elephants started blocking up the roads and we were to wait still such time they move away from roads to forest area.We reached our hotel very late and we were schedule to reach by 9 pm to take up our dinner instead we were late by 2 hours. But the hotel staffs were waiting for us to serve our dinner eventhough their duty time was over and we all thanked them for their service.

All of your ideas would be important to me if I were traveling to a foreign land. I would list them in order of importance as:
1. Cleanliness
2. Wonderful, Warm and Friendly Staff
3. Comfort and Safety
4. Superbly Helpful Staff
5. Emergency Preparedness
I would add that it would be helpful for someone to speak English, though I would try to learn a language before I visited a country of another language. Also, it would be nice to have some reasonably priced dining facilities on the property or nearby. A bar would be a big plus too.

A good hotel to me must first be a great value. I hate paying more for something than it's actually worth, so first I look for value. I also need to know that the hotel is clean so I always check reviews to make sure that there are no problems with the cleanliness. I also like a good bed and, of course, a courteous staff. Finally, I look to see if I can bring my dogs with me as we often travel with them.

A good hotel is like you say one wit clean facilities, and good staff. I do prefer a smaller hotel because that way you can get to know the staff a bit better and them to know you, the staff must take an interest in you but know when you need some privacy of your own. I also like a hotel with up to date features and technology, otherwise it is likely to become a disaster. The bed itslef must good quality and comfortable so you can sleep well, apart from a bar it would be good to also have a small entertainment place of some sort, so you can meet other people in the hotel and have some fun while you are there.

Yes, I agree-there are lots of important things that make a good hotel. For me, it is really important that the facilities are clean and the staff is friendly. I've been to hotels where the person at the front desk barely even made eye contact with me and wouldn't even say hello or thank me for my business or anything. It's so rude! Those are the hotels that I always remember and make sure not to go there again. When I find a hotel that has really friendly people and nice rooms, I always take a business card so I can remember it if I'm ever in the area again.

I think a good hotel is one that makes me feel as if I'm home even if I'm far away from it. You know, one that would give me a truly home away from home experience.
I would a hotel to be clean and comfortable with all the amenities like cable TV, air conditioning, telephone. They should also have great tasting food and a warm, friendly and hospitable staff. Checking into this kind of hotel would truly be a wonderful experience.

For me a good/great hotel. Definitely has to be clean all throughout the place not just inside the room but on the hallways and the frontdesk area. The sheets have to be clean and smelling good, towels have to be folded neatly, Pillows cannot have any smell to it.... and lastly customer service has to be exceptional where they would actually treat you as a guest.

a good hotel is hard to find
first off you need to speak ENGLISH
and of course be aware of the guests needs
I recently stayed at one and I went up to the
desk to ask for some shampoo cuz there was only
one tiny bottle in the room
I was staying there with the bf and
they saw him when we checked
he has hair down to his waist
and I have hair down to my waist
and I had to ask for more
but they didn't understand me
so I just grabbed some of the little cart lol
along with some towels
oh well more luck to me next time
