Have you ever tried putting fido on a natural diet?

I have 2 chihuahuas, an AK husky, and a yellow lab living with me, and recently I've been considering trying a natural diet. I always feel sorry for my dogs when they are waiting hopefully at their food bowls, only to see those same greasy bread pellets pour in front of them.
I want my dogs to eat what they are made to eat, like meat and bones!
I have a few quick questions, though. How expensive will it be to feed 4 dogs? (145 lbs of dog total!) Are there any dangers? Will it help with overweight dogs?
Are your pets on natural diets?

Ok, meat & bones are fine - although bread pellets i'm really not sure about - i've never heard of them.
You have to realise that after many MANY years of being man's pet - these dogs probably need more than just bones to sustain them.
I feed my dogs a healthy diet to prevent them from becoming overweight & such - it's not too expensive unless you over feed your dogs & end up giving them more each day than they need to be fed - or if you feed them more than once a day. I buy everything in cheap brands to save money - i get pasta or rice, cheap frozen vegetables & then if you go to the butcher or whatever you call it - see if they have dog mince/meat that you can buy coz it's VERY cheap but still good for the dog. I usually give the meat raw but cook the pasta or rice & vegetables, mix it all together - they love it, it's healthy & nutritious! You could also consider adding a gravy of some kind if you wanted to make it creamier!
A couple times a week you can give them just a juicy bone to chew on & they will be happy. You could also try 1 day a week of just giving them a bowl full of raw chicken wings or raw chicken neck - GREAT for their teeth.
You didn't say how often you exercise them but they shouldn't really be overweight if they get enough exercise & eat properly.
I wish you well with your dogs!

hehe, all corporate dog foods are bread pellets ;)
I started researching something called the RMB diet for dogs (or BARF diet, but RMB sounds better!). What it believes is that a large portion (like 60%) of your dog's daily food intake should be some kind of raw, meaty bone. Then the other 40% should be meat, egg, veggies, supplements, or whatever. It is interesting!
My chihuahua has always been a fatcake, but she has gotten even worse this winter. I live in a very small cabin in the Alaska wilderness, so my chihuahua doesn't really care for going out into the snow! She WILL get in shape this summer, though. I'll be sure of that ;)
