Yeah i know by the title you're all wondering if i've gone completely nuts or what!
Seriously though, i wondered tonight whether perhaps my cat, Ginge, might be a vegetarian!
All my animals get the same to eat - minced meat, vegetables & either rice or pasta, so all natural & healthy for them all.
I was watching Ginge closely tonight & noticed that he was pushing his meat out of the way & giong straight for the peas & pieces of carrots! Then once the veggies were gone, he was checking out the other cat's piles to see what veggies were still there to eat.
After he's finished the veggies, he went back for the pasta - that was it, he had no interest at all to eat the meat!
Is my cat just weird or what? Do you think it's possible he could be vegetarian coz he's never interested in the meat - just all the other stuff. Has anyone else ever noticed an animal that generally eats meat - not bother to eat it?
I'd love to hear from other cat owners & see if it's just my cat that's gone all weird or if maybe it's just that time of the year - Autumn!

It sounds to me like your cat GInge is an oddlittle duck of a cat! I have had many a cat over the years and can't think of one that did't lve its meat and gravy. If your kitty is healthy, I wouldn't be overly worried. If you think he might become protein deficient, I wonder would you be able to sneak a bit of egg in there without him copping on?
I had aabbit years ago that ate meat, which they are not supposed to do! It was a very aggressive bunny and I have never seen anything like him. H=e would get into the cat food and attack anything that moved, including the cats and people.
Is your vegitarian kitty very gentle?

Ginge is VERY gentle, which i have always thought was odd for an undesexed male - we've had pretty good luck with male cats! He's also very healthy, quite a big, stocky cat too.
Oh, he eats egg not problems - he has recently started on the meat but only because there wasn't any vegetables in there - i usually just make up their food - past, meat & veggies - if i'm low on veggies i add egg since my partner works on a poultry farm!
Thanks for your input :)

Thanks for the best response. You know they say eating meat makes people more aggressive, maybe it is true. It is an interesting idea in light of your vegitarian cat!

Hi! That is some unique cat you have gemmygirl1! All the cats I have seen are eating their meat with gusto and never ever bother with the veggies. Could it be that ever since birth your cat had those choices of food and decided then and there that he rather likes veggies. Some cats don't have much of a choice in what they eat, they are just made to eat what cats are supposed to it. If that is the case, you have one very smart cat! Thanks and have a nice day!

He hasn't always had the option, when they were much younger they ate cat food from a tin but since i make food for the dogs - meat, pasta & vegetables - they eat the same now & have done for about 12 months or so.
Take care:)
