Why do you think that most women hide the fact that they could possibly have postpartum depression?

It is because anyone in society who does not like the person, may try to use their diagnoses as a reason to try to take their children away, or try to make them out to be an unfit parent, which is not true. People here about bad mothers with this disorder and people will try to classify anyone with depression as being an unfit parent, so they hide it. I offline do not discuss depression as much as I have on this board other then one on with people who need the help. It is a very hard illness to detail and society pressure is just rotten, and makes it harder for anyone with depression to heal. - DNatureofDTrain

Women hide it because society makes us feel as though that should be the happiest time of our lives. We feel like we have already failed if we are depressed.
