my chinchilla is a picky eater...normal or not??

Chinchillas can be picky eaters but if you want to switch you chin to new food do it slowly by mixing a small amount of new food into her old brand. Each day add a little more of the new stuff untill its all new stuff. NEVER feed your chin people food. A daily treat of raisin or banana chips or 1/2 a shredded wheat (not frosted or flavored)or even 1/4 tsp of berry or banana yougart is fine but nothing like carrots or lettus, meats or other fruits....Chinchillas have very sensitive digestive tracts and can get very sick if given too many snacks in one day or the wrong kind of snack. I'm not too sure if that's normal or not. My chinchillas will eat just about anything I give them. They're little piggies! They especially love treats but I try to limit those because they can be bad for them. Try not to change their food types a lot because it can actually cause digestive problems. I feed my chins mozilla pellets and timothy hay. They seem to like those a lot.

My chinchillas like bran flakes and shreddies. Although I only given them that occasionally. Small bits of apple are ok. Does Chilli eat normal chinchilla pellets as they are supposed to be all they need. There is also the chinchilla cocktail, peanuts in shells and locust beans you can give as a treat. I have had chinchillas for over 11 years now and I give them chinchilla pellets and meadow hay every day. The other things I have mentioned are all occasional treats. Hope this helps
