It was always a tradition in our family to make a big breakfast on Sunday morning. Waffles were always a treat, but we always made something other than the normal cereal and juice. What do you eat on Sunday morning? Today we are having french toast, sausage links and homemade fried apples....yummy!

My mother always prepare a big breakfast during the weekend because Saturday and Sunday are day off here in our country. What we usually have is fried rice or fried noodles, yellow rice with the chicken or fish side dish (which is very tasty), nasi lemak (rice cooked in a coconut milk serve with fried anchovy with dreid chili paste sambal), some kuih like donut, curry puff, spring roll, and other Malay kuih. She also prepare a hot instant coffee drink or tea. I always feel weekend is a day without hunger because our hunger did not reach our tummy and the food is there on the table for us to feed the tummy.

nasi lemak, the rice cooked in coconut milk - We love this dish. This is a famous breakfast menu in my country
I have the recipe for nasi lemak here just in case if you like to try them out Nasi Lemak Recipe (Fragrant Coconut Milk Rice) Rice 600 g Rice 450 g Grated coconut, extract 5 cups of milk by adding equal amount of water 4 pcs Fragrant screwpine (pandan) leaves, tie into knot 2 cm Ginger, slice finely 6 pcs Shallots, slice finely 3 cloves Garlic, slice finely 1 teaspoon Salt 1 piece Cinnamon 3 Cloves Method: • Wash the rice and drain well. • Put rice, coconut milk and other ingredients into a pot or electric rice cooker and cook until all liquid is absorbed. • Loosen rice grain and test for doneness. • Add a little water if the rice is not well-cooked. • Cover the pot tightly until rice is fluffy. Sambal Ikan Bilis (Dried anchovies sambal) 1/2 red onion 1 cup dried anchovies 1 clove garlic 4 shallots 10 dried chillies 1 teaspoon of belacan (dried shrimp paste) 1/4 teaspoon of salt 1 tablespoon of sugar • Rinse the dried anchovies and drain the water. Fry the anchovies until they turn light brown and put aside. • Pound the dried shrimp paste together with shallots, garlic, and deseeded dried chilies with a mortar and pestle. You can also grind them with a food processor. • Slice the red onion into rings. • Soak the tamarind pulp in water for 15 minutes. Squeeze the tamarind constantly to extract the flavor into the water. Drain the pulp and save the tamarind juice. • Heat some oil in a pan and fry the spice paste until fragrant. • Add in the onion rings. • Add in the anchovies and stir well. • Add tamarind juice, salt, and sugar. • Simmer on low heat until the gravy thickens. Set aside. Other ingredients 2 hard boiled eggs (cut into half) 3 small fish (salted fish) 1 small cucumber (cut into slices and then quartered) Serve the nasi lemak with fried fish, cucumber slices, and hard-boiled eggs

we generally do make a nice breakfast on Sundays. Actually, I guess it would qualify as a brunch. Today we had omelets with sauteed meat and onions - cheddar cheese. It would have been pancakes and sausage but I made pancakes on Friday for supper.

Yummm, that sounds good! No, we don't have a big meal on Sundays because we are all getting up and trying to get ready for Sunday School and church. We sometimes will have a big breakfast on Saturday mornings, but several of us try to sleep in on Saturdays, so that doesn't always work either! lol!

Sometimes I will cook a big breakfast on Sunday morning. Today we had french toast and sausage. It really depends on who is home and what we are doing for the day.

To be honest, for me a Sunday is just like any other day for me, I live with just my housemate and have no family or partner, so I just have what I have every day of the week, cereal! I will vary the cereal and have different ones, today I had Maple and pecan crisp which is like a muesli crunch, very tasty and I will have grapefruit juice.

Growing up, my mom always made a big breakfast on Sunday mornings. Now that I have my own family, I owuld like to make big breakfasts, especialy since my husband LOVES breakfast, but Sundays are busy days and we have to get to Sunday School by 9AM so there is no time for a big breakfast.

My family favorite breakfast, Sunny side up egg, bacon, ham and bake bean and with a cup of freshly brew coffee on a Sunday monring. I can only have it during weekend. All will sit down and enjoy the breakfast. On weekday, I am always rushing to send the kids to school and getting to work. And breakfast is just sandwich and a cup of coffee that I grab from the company cafeteria.

Yummie....I wish I had such breakfast. I have all the same breakfast everyday as I wake up at one time every day and it's several hours before everyone else does. It's just a glass of water :), some cereal or musli, yogurt and a cookie if theres some :P

I will usually get up a few hours before everyone else on Sunday so that I can make them a huge breakfast. They love fried bacon, sausage gravy, biscuits, toast, hashbrowns, homemade waffles, and omletes. We eat some these things during the week but Sunday is the one morning that we are all home together.

This morning I will be making pancakes for my family. Sometimes, we just go out and get some bagels, but the weather here today is quite bad so we will stay in and I will prepare breakfast. Everyone is so rushed during the week, that it's nice to take the time to just have a leisurely meal one morning a week and that would be today.
