Is my mother in law stupid or is it just me?

My mother in law thinks that my 7 year old daughter needs to start wearing a bra. She has no breasts. She isn't heavy or anything like that. She is a typical 7 year old. My mother in law is heavy and says that she had to start wearing a bra in the 4th grade and I guess she thinks that my daughter needs to as well. When she buys my daughter clothes she buys them 2 sizes too big and undwear that is 4 sizes too big. She recently bought her some pants and a skirt and they were size 10's. My daugher wears a 7/8. The pants were too long and baggy and the skirt would barely stay up on her waist. She also wears a size 6/7 underwear and everytime my mother in law buys her undies she gets a size 12! What do you think her deal is? Is she wanting my daughter to be heavy like her? She is about 5'3" and over 200 lbs.

I personally think this is crazy. I have had this problem also with grandma's. I just take the clothes back or put them up for my daughter to wear later. Just try telling her to buy clothes that fit. I cant tell you what you mother in laws deal is, but hopefully you can talk to her and let her know how you feel about it. Good Luck!

I just tell her what size she wears and if she mentions her wearing a bra, I tell her she is too young. She needs to be a kid!

He doesn't say anything about it. It's his mother so he wouldn't say anything.

She probably means well. She just isn't good at picking out the right sizes or wants to be sure they aren't too small. LOL. Either take them back to the store and try to trade for the right size, sell them, or put them away until she fits them. Good Luck!

That's crazy...she's probably just looking back to when she was a kid and hoping that your little girl will turn out just like her. She could be in denial too...maybe she thinks your daughter is already like she was as a kid.

Maybe she is dealing with her own issues that she had as a child. I am sure that it is hard for you to have to put up with such nonsense. I mean, if you tell her the size she should get the size rather than waste her money on clothing your daughter can't wear. It doesn't sound like she is stupid but it sounds like she has a few screws loose and needs to just be ignored. I wouldn't even bother with the bra stuffs until she actually needs to start those things. If your daughter is hearing this stuff from grandma I would be sureto discuss the truth with her so she doesn't develop a complex about it.:)
