This is for all those who are in to blogging. We all need readership and visitors. We do get visitors but we never know what they think about our blog. here is something all of you can benefit from.
All Blogger templates have the Nofollow attribute built into their comments. This is done to discourage comment spam. However you can, encourage people to comment on your blog by removing this attribute. The Nofollow attribute instructs the search spiders not to follow the link thus preventing them to have a link back through the comments.
You can encourage people to comment on your blog once they recognize that links in comments are being followed. To discourage spam enable comment moderation in your Settings Comments. Also put a logo in your sidebar proclaiming that links in your comments are followed by the search bots. This will act as a freebait by sharing your link with fellow bloggers.
I have done so on both my blogs you can too.
now how to:[This is for blogspot bloggers only]
MODIFYING THE TEMPLATE
To do this login to dashboard and click on layouts of your blog. Then click on Edit Html subtab of Template tab. First backup your template by clicking on the Download Full Template link. Put a check in the Expand Widgets Template Checkbox at the top of the Edit Template text box. This expands the Blog Posts Widget Code within which is the comments code. Then scroll down till you come to :
expr:name='"comment-" +data:comment.id'
if cond='data:comment.authorUrl'
expr:href='data:comment.authorUrl' [rel='nofollow']
data:comment.author
b:else
data:comment.author
if
data:commentPostedByMsg
dt
Delete the words in brackets in the above code : rel='nofollow' and save the template.

Thank you as always for all your useful hints and tips. I really need to update my knowledge on blogging and general web management. When I get more time and into a routine then I will definitely upgrade my knowledge base where computing is concerned.

Are you shure this is a good idea? It may encourage comments but each outbound link 'leaks' a little Page Rank. It may be ok to be genrous in liking out to lots of sites in a post, but this may do more harm than good...

A plus rating for your discussion! However, I still am unable to understand the ins and outs of getting traffic to my site. Maybe you can't teach an old kitchen witch new tricks; but I will keep on TRYING to learn. Thank you for all the tips. I did go to your blog and bookmark it. ~Donna

mansha ~ Thanks for the good advice. I am always looking for little tips and tricks for getting more visitors to my blog. At least this one is an easy one! lol
Some of them get really long and technical and I get hopelessly lost by the time I get done trying to figure them out.
Much appreciated.

No just blogger based blog has the nofollow attribute, most of the wordpress based blog also put the nofollow attribute. there are many other ways to thank your visitors and not necessary need to get rid of the no follow attribute and give free links to your visitors. this will only allow more spam. Think of another way to reward your visitors like holding a contest or give a mini review on their blog.
