My weight caught up to me!

My husband and I decided that we wanted to have a second child. So we went to my ob and he wants me to lose weight before we start, one, so i can be healthy, and so it would be easier to have a second child.
So, I took charge! I signed up with ediets and it's been a week and i've stayed right on track. It looks like i've almost lost 8lbs! I have a weight in tomarrow! Wish me luck!
I do have a question. What would be more better, counting calories or watching my fat/sodium intake. I'm at risk for diabeties!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Taking charge of your weight is such a major undertaking, that most of us don't last very long at it.
I too have decided to start a life style change with my dh. He IS diabetic and the best thing for him (dr recommended) is to have a close approach to the Atkins lifestyle. I know it's probably not what you're doing, since it's such a controversy, but before getting preggo with my lo I lost 50lbs in 5 months and dh lost 40 or so. Anyway, diabetics need to watch the sugar intake and the carbohydrates. So I recommend (just my opinion, not in any way shape or form a dr or nutritionist) the Atkins or the low glycimec approach.

Congratulations!
It's wonderful that you already lost so much weight.
If you are at risk for diabeties, I would watch you carbs and sugar intake over fat. You shouls also watch your sodium though, especially if you have high blood pressure in your family too.

Congratulations on your decision to have another child, on your successful effort to lose wait, and on your determination.
I personally think that dieting is all about having a balance, so I think it is both about watching your calories, and about keeping an eye on your fat/sodium intake. All I know is, that if you cut back to much and deprive yoursef of too much of the foods that you love to eat, then your are much more likely to regain the wait or to fail. I think it is all about the balance and moderation.
Good luck with both the weight loss and the pregnancy to come, I hope you will suceed on both in the very near future.
