A 4yr old child in my area has been killed because a U-haul truck back over him, the driver did not see him. His mother, who works at the U-Haul place brought her son to work with her and he was playing outside chasing a ball and ran behind the U-haul truck when the driver back up over him and then pulled forward and ran him over again. The mother said he was being watched but if that was so why did she let him run behind a U-Haul truck? I think the mother was neglegent on her part. Its a tragic thing for a child to get killed this way. What is your opionion?

Oh my goodness I am so sorry to hear that really I would have to blame the mom plenty of things have happened to my son even though he is a boy and never keeps still I always blame myself I am in control of his safety and that means alot to me. For the mom to not have her eyes on him all the time is crazy/

This is a very tragic accident. One that both the mother and the driver will have to live with for the rest of their lives. The mother, having to deal with it on a daily basis of how she failed her child. No amount of blame will bring this child back. It is a lesson for all to learn to keep a better eye on their children.

That is very sad what happened to this young boy as he did not know how dangerous it was being out there near the trucks. I too think the mother is negligent for letting him play outside near the trucks. I feel so bad for the child and family. She should have kept him inside where it is safer or left him at home with someone to watch him. I am sure the mother is hurting really bad right now and misses her son and regrets letting her son play out there.

I was just reading about this as it is somewhat close to me too. I can't see where the child was being watched. Why would you take a four year old to a place like that? They are very curious and can run fast. They need constant supervision. I don't think the mother was doing that. Very sad.

do not place blame you were not there, this is a horrible thing. what kind of mother would want her son run over. but what kind of struggling single mother would not try to take her child to work to save her job, she is not fortunate like you to stay home and be there if the child is out os school or what ever. many are not so fortunate, i have had mothers working for me who would call with no baby sitter, and i would let them bring kids to work. i ran a large tree removal business lot of trucks and equipment. some people have hard lives, unless there was intentional negligence, let it go she is in more pain, than you will ever know.

I think its partly her fault because she chose to bring her child to work. if she is working how can she possibly be watching her son?
its so sad that this had to happen and I cant even imagine how badly she must be feeling right now.
but there is no way in heck I would be bringing my kid to work with me, especially not to a place where there are big trucks in and out..and then to let him go out and play where the the trucks are.. wow..

It is very tragic, but the mother has the responsibility for this one. She should have called the little one inside when vehicles were being moved around. A child of 4 does not understand about traffic hazards and is not capable of recognizing a life threatening situation. That why children have parents. Parents sometimes think their children are smarter than they really are and that can lead to disaster, as in this case.
