I prefer Windows XP for surfing net because it has: 1.Firewall pre installed 2.more secured and still supported by microsoft with patches 3.it is meant for home and prof usage only. No server part in it 4. Easy to use (inteface and design) 5. better functionality then windows 2000.

I use the Windows as the OS of my PC. Windows is the most popular OS around the world. Linux is open source but some variations are not free. I can't afford the Apple Mackintosh. Windows has a lot of draw backs and hangs often without any notice. Still I think its the best for layman like us for its ease in using and being user friendly.

I have always used Macintosh, so I have always used Apple software. Once I used Netscape Communicator to surf the net, to me it was a very good browser, but now I use another browser, "Safari", it's a browser by Apple software, it is nothing special, but it works really well. The operating system I've always used is Mac OS, I'm using MAc OS X Panther now, but there is a new versione, Mac OS X Tiger.

I think Solaris is out-of-topic if you're a laptop or desktop users because runs mostly on a server environment. I'm a Windows user, I think it was considered as a standard in operating systems.

I use Windows, why? it's ignorance. Now you said that I go to install Ubuntu Linux... I prefer use a linux navigator because linux is secure and will have more rendiment.
