Pork is forbidden because: a) The internal organs are laid out very much like those in the human body. b) Pigs eat things that are disgusting. They will root through their own feces to find food if need be. c) They smell horrible when confined and that has been equated with being unhealthy. d) Because of the issue addressed in "b", pork has to be thoroughly cooked so that the person eating it doesn't get a bad case of trichinosis, which is and infestation of worms that burrow into the muscles and live inside humans. When the taboos against pork were developed it was impossible to tell if the pork was cooked enough to avoid getting the worms. Hope that answers your question.

because it says so in the old testament, this is where Jews get it and Muslims too. In the ancient times pigs were considered unclean and it has been proven that pork contains lots of bacteria and can kill you. Think, there were no refrigerators, many foods spoiled and pork was one of them. Also it is religious. If christians truly followed the ways of their ancestors religiously speaking they would not eat pork either. Jesus did not eat any meat only fish and vegetables and fruit.

Hi mjsdls, Pork (in Biblical times) was used for one purpose only. The swine was used as a garbage disposal. Since pigs eat pretty much anything, even dibris, it was forbidden for people to eat pork. The same holds true for any type shell fish or fish that didn't have skales and fins. The fish that don't have scales and fins eat (for the most part), trash. Consider catfish and lobsters, and other type shell fish. They eat from the ocean and lake floors. They eat cast offs. Do you honestly want that stuff in your system? Not only were these things forbidden, taking Biblical aspects out of the question, look at the things God said were unclean and not to be eater. Research them today and look at the things they cause from a health stand point. Connect that with one reason why God said they were unclean. Do you think He knew shrimp and lobster would cause elevated collesteral and heart disease? Makes you wonder?

Hi Friend Pork is prohibited in Islam, as Muslims don,t eat animals which eat faeces, and also Muslims believe that pork has got high content of Fat which is not good for heath
