My mom has had diabetes for almost ten years now. Although she's had multiple operations in both her eyes and has to take several types of meds daily she has been an exemplary patient and is in excellent shape, considering how debilitating diabetes can be. She also has her own daily walking route around our town to keep fit. Please help me find more info on how to help people with diabetes stay healthy.

I am sorry to hear about your mother and her diabeties , my mother in law just found out she has this also last year and is having a hard time dealing with it as she loves junk food so much .
The best advise I can give you would be to go to your family doctor and ask them for some information as they have different pamphlets and their are different types of diabeties and they will know what you will be dealing with as some people have more severe cases then others .
We are lucky so far because my mother in law is not a bad case yet .
Best of luck :)

thanks for the advice, it's very much appreciated. she does see her diabetologist every two weeks, and goes for her eye check up every three months. as a matter of fact, she just went to see her eye doctor last saturday and the doctor said she's made remarkable recovery from her last operation. i guess her being a model patient does have a lot to do with how well she's getting along. she really watches her diet, does regular exercise, and tries to avoid stress as much as possible. thanks a lot, best of luck ,too.
