Yes you're right. They are very attractive when they spread their tail. You can see this often during their courtship.

Are peacocks hard to take care of? I use to raise chickens and imagine a peacock isn't much different when it comes to caring for them.

It's easy to take care of peafowls. They are omnivorous and basicaly eats seedheads, flowers, leaves of plants, insects, etc. Just don't let it go near your dogs and cats.

What a beautiful bird. I have always thought peacocks were and still are very beautiful birds. I love all the colors they show. Espically when displaying their tails out like a fan.

Its called plumage and its more attractive in males. Peahens are brown and they have plumage too but they usually use it to protect the young.

peacock - sammy
peacocks are so pretty. we use to live in lake dallas and the person that owned the place we lived at had about 6 of them that ran loose. they liked to chase you though. they were very wild and they would get in the top of the hosue at night and jump and walk around use to drive me nuts. he got them cause they are good at killing snakes. we had a prob with snakes living close to water and being in texas. i use to love to watch them just hated when they were by the car and i needed to go some where. like i said they liked to attack people. the kids use to check out the feathers they lost all the time. the only bad thing about them is they carry head lice bad. lucky after i found that out from the doctor i stopped letting the kids touch the feather and we never had a issue with it again.

WOW you have a peacock. Where do you get it? Is it hard to raise a peacock? What kind of food do they eat?
