I have my new site up and am getting ready to take pictures of the cosmetics on it, as soon as the new batch of mineral make up arrives. I want to have a contest for logos but am not sure how I should set it up.
I would like to have people submit logos, so I guess I could have them either place them with their post to the forum, just as soon as I figure out how to work with it smoothly, or I could have them e-mail them to the email address at the site by setting up a special folder that I would look through at the end of the contest. Which way do you think is best?
Should I list the elements that have to be in the logo..like saying the logo must have a rose and a glove, for example...?
I have several ideas for prizes. Should I have a first, second, and third place prize...or should I just have prize for the first place winner, or should I give every entry a token of appreciation??
I am anxious to hear what people think!

Hello friend! I'm happy you have a new site with new products. As for your logo contest I would agree with everybody here, that you should set your regulations. Like specify the elements, colors, what's included in the logo like what you mentioned glove and rose. May I also suggest that when it comes to decision making on which to pick, the logo should contain your company values or mission, attractive, and being user-friendly.
With the prizes I think you should give rewards or prizes to 1st - 3rd place. And send an e-mail to everybody who didn't win the contest but participated. Hope my suggestions helped you.
Hmmm..can I get a discount in your website? Thanks!!

I would have them sent to a private email associated with the website. I would certainly have submission guidelines. I would do 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes. I wouldn't do a token for each person who enters cause that could get REALLY expensive really fast! Maybe a special token gift for the first 10 entries or something.
I can't wait to hear that the site is up and ready!

I think it is a good idea like everyone said to set down clear, consise guidelines of what you would like in your logo. I would go with the 1, 2 and 3 prize. The person who responded and said you should check with the goverment agency is correct. A token of appreciation would get expensivive.

If they post entries at the forum, everyone will be able to see them. Better to have them emailed to you or find out from a webmaster hw people can submit their entries to the site and keep them private.
I'd have a first prize and all the other entries go into the draw for an x amount of runners up prizes. That way you won't lose your profit if you get flooded with entries. And yes, I'd make any stipulations quite clear.
Do you need permission from any gov't bodies to run this kind of contest...better check the legalities.
You'll also need to include how and when the contest closes and the winners are announced.

If you haven't done this already I'd advice this.
Keep it between (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
3rd doesn't have to be to much $ it'll just draw more people into taking part, which would boost the chances of your time being wasted. (believe me it's hard to get someone who's good unless they're interested in your site)
I saw your site the other day, It's looking very nicely and if you would of pm'ed me. (I would of had a go at designing you one) Improving gfx wise all the time, which is the bad part of webdesigning skills but i would of done it happily as a friend.
Goodluck with the contest and site.

I think that you should set up an email address especially for the contest. Let people know what you are looking for, elements, feelings, etc. You will get more relevant entries that way. And I would go with the 3 main prizes. No need to include everyone, since you could potentially get thousands of entries.
By the way, I am interested in entering this contest of yours, so please let me know when you decide to hold it!
