The first thing my babies ate was rice cereal. After the cereals they had peas and sweet potatoes. My son (2) is a good eater and he eats whatever I'm making for supper. My daughter (8 months) is also good - she hasn't hated anything yet, but isn't too fond of sweet things like fruit. She'll eat it, but would rather eat vegetables. They both started on solid foods at 5.5 months.

We started feeding solids to our little one at 6 months, so pretty recent. We started with carrots and bananas, but he's tried sweet potato, avocados and cantalope. He's still not too sure on the whole chewing idea, but he's getting there. I think he enjoys everything so far except for the avocado. When he first tried it he made sourpuss faces every time i gave him a spoonful. I need to continue giving him avocado, since it takes like 20 exposures before the really enjoy a specific food.

My daughter first tried a baby porridge thing, initially she wasn't keen so i went with mashed potato & cauliflour or brocoli which she loves.
Now at 10 months old, she eats EVERYTHING - she'll have what we have most nights unless it's spicy, then i have to make her something else but i don't mind!
I'm just really pleased she's not a fussy eater & will at least try anything you put in front of her!

It is good to give him congee. It is good for the baby first solid food. That was the first food that i give it to my child he like it very much. Then slowly i give him congee w/ potato, congee w/ banana. Sometimes i give him Cerelac. It is a first solid here in Philipines that can be buy in the supermarket. It is good also a home made dried horseradish, just mix it in the congee. happy eating!!!

My son simply did not want to eat solid food, I tried to give a few tastes at around five months witout any luck, then at six months, I really started to introduce solids, on food at the time, but still without any luck. I tried with mashed bananas, sweet potatoes, potatoes, apple sauce, oatmeal etc., I even went ahead and bought two of the store bought jars, but nothing worked. At around nine months, he slowly began to eat finger foods, but still none of the mashed stuff. I nursed him until he was 12 months, and it was not until he was 11 months that he really started to pick up an appetite. Now he eats as if he is trying to catch up, and he actually eats more than my 4 1/2 year old son.
I was so amazed how my sons could be so different, as my oldest son started eating solids at 3 1/2 months, and he was loving it.
