Just the other day, I was at starbucks, queueing up for a cuppa, when I noticed the lady in front of me paying $200 for coffee beans and two cups of coffee. My jaw dropped. $200 for coffee beans and drinks!! That to me is freaking expensive! What would make a person pay so much for beans?

I think people will really pay serious money for a good coffee. Due to rising affluence, consumers are demanding higher quality products and are willing to part serious money to get them.

I would tend to agree with you. I was watching discovery channel the other day and it was featuring coffee. I never realize that coffee is one of the highest traded commodity in the stock market. And coffee is one beverage that can be found on every continent and country in the world! There is this special grade of coffee, called the guano... or something like that, that is worth its weight in gold! it is actually undigested beans of the fruit bats! And is supposedly the best coffee in the world. I wonder how it taste like. Anyone here tried it before?

why fishy? I was right behind here in line. I bought my two cups of frappacino at about 20 dollars... it is freaking expensive! When I saw the cash register ring 200 ++ dollars for her bag of beans and two cuppa... i was surprised!

ha ha ha... what are the chances? it is for two bag of beans... if i remember correctly with conversion, RM200++ to SGD is still about SGD100. That is still heck of a lot of money to spend on coffee beans you know.

Honestly, I will never understand. I don't even drink coffee.. lol I have an "adverse reaction" when i take caffeine... Hmm... now we can probably start a new thread with "Caffeine, have you heard of anyone having an allergy to that!?" ROFL.

why not? I mean, there are people who are allergic to peanuts, chillies, sotong, shellfish... etc, I am not the lease bit surprise if there are people who are allergic to caffeine. I guess it is rare... but not impossible. Why dun you start a new thread for it then? for all you know the response will be good. *Grinz*

ha ha ha... I also say! Those are some really expensive coffee beans! In fact, the most expensive ones I have encountered so far. I never knew that coffee could be that expensive! That is until I saw the discovery channel documentary on coffee. For me, when the price of coffee shop coffee was increased by 10 cents, I was already griping to no end about the inflation! Imagine, people are paying hundreds for two bags of coffee! Wow~!
