Do we need to involve a lawyer to fix a birth certificate?

My dh is not my oldest son's bio-dad, but he has been with me since I was 4 months pregnant with him. I did not put a father's name on his birth certificate because I didn't want the bio-dad to have an easy time getting to my son. My dh wants to be added to the bc and I don't know how to make that happen so it cannot be contested. Would it be handled as an adoption or can it be done without involving the bio-dad? The bio-dad hasn't been in the picture since conception.

your dh has to adopt the child.you just cant put his name on the birth cert.as the father.that is against the law.my nephew almost went to jail for doing that.so dont make the same mistake he did.all you have to do is get a lawyer an tell them you dont know who the father is an your dh wants to adopt him.it will cost you about $1500.00 for a lawyer.that is what my nephew ended up doing he adopted a little girl that his wife had before they got married.i wish you the best.
