Do you feel that's it a good idea to scrap the ability to copy and paste?
What are other tools that can be really good for his site?
What should be done with those, who do or have stolen your words?
Do you think it would help us in this forum to get along?

I had just answered to this topic befoe but I am happy to share it with you again, I think there ma be upside and downside in removing the copy and paste picture, some members may not be able to post some good and long articles or recipes if they are not allowed to copay and paste, at the same time, it will prevent plagarism of discussions by another members.
So I do not know are there more befefits than harm, what do yo think?

I agree I really get annoyed with people who copy and paste. It is not allowed on here, and if you see someone you should report them.

Well, copy and pasting IS allowed here - when you reach 500 posts you are given that ability. What is NOT allowed is copying other people's work whether it be discussions, responses, or anything else that was written by someone else and claiming it as your own... If you didn't write, create, the writing then you had better give credit to the person who did write it.

Well I think that the ability to copy and paste is important to this site for a few reasons.
Sometimes I want to respond to only part of someone's discussion. Usually because it is the part that i can relate or add to. So I would copy and paste that part in particular to help with the understanding of my answer. However, I always add the parenthesis to indicate that it is a quote.
Another example is when I want to include a pertinent link in my responce or discussion. I may be lazy in this, but I hate typing in URLs because some URLs are not so easy and include many characters that I have to get just right to keep the link working. I also like it if I want to paraphrase an article I find interesting.
It is sad that people can abuse this function and cheat the system but there are certainly many valid uses for it.
I think with the ability to report obvious plagerisers (spelling?) it lends to users the ability to alert moderators to this and I am sure they deal with it. I can not imagine another way of ridding the site of those problems.

Oh yeah its a given Siren where this ability is useful. Abusing the idea or tool, would lead to something not so worthwhile.

I am not in favour of scrapping anything. I personally don't use the copy and paste feature myself, so it won't really affect me if it is scrapped, but I'm not in favour of that king of "legislation" either. What other people do is their business, not mine. It doesn't matter to me whether it stays or goes.

Just wait until someone chooses to copy, paste and post you own words, claiming it their own! it may not matter now.. I guess we'll have to wait and see!!

It would be silly to scrap cut and paste. It is a very useful tool when saving a post before pressing the 'post response' button and something goes wrong and you loose the lot!!!
Anyway, if someone wanted to copy your words it would only take them a few seconds to type it out. What's the point? Stopping plaguerism is what is needed.

I don't believe that copy and pasting is the problem here - the problem is people who are thieves, cheaters, and have no morals. These types of people are going to do wrong no matter what.
I do use the copy and paste feature and find it very helpful - when I write a discussion I do it in MS Word, spell check it, and then copy it into the myLot window... Is this cheating? NO - it is helping others by my not posting discussions with misspelled words.
Scrapping the copy and paste feature is only going to create more junk, rather than quality discussions. Such as people taking other discussions and merely rewording them and collecting money for the same topic.
I say rather than punishing those who follow the rules that we need to ALL follow the rules and report cheaters.

But by others copying your own words is helping them make money from what you wrote to me that's plagiarism, ..I can understand if you were to quote someone else.. that's fine.. word for word that's plagiarism.

Besides copy and paste feature In my eyes only creates more junk period. It also helps others who "cheat".. better!
