Anyone from Ipswich?

Three hours ago, I received an email from two nice elderly couple from Ipswich, England. I applied online for an au pair job a few days ago and they seem to be vey interested in me. I will take care of their pet dog and do some light housekeeping around the house in exchange for schooling and an allowance. I was very excited because this will be the very first time I'll go abroad. But then it hit me! Where in the world is Ipswich? (I am from S.Asia by the way).I absolutely know nothing of the place! It's people, it's culture and more importantly, the fashion trend! Hey, I am a woman afterall. I tried searching on the net but I still crave for more information. What could be more reliable than getting it from someone who was actually been there or has extensive knowledge of the place. I do need all informations I can get.... especially on the basics on the Ipswich fashion. Being a tank-top-flip-flop girl that I am, I know I need help.

Hi Mari and welcome to myLot - I hope you will have fun here. Ipswich is the next town to me heading east. It is at the head of the River Orwell and has a port for small ships and pleasure craft. Down river is the port of Felixstowe, the busiest in the UK. Ipswich has a good shopping centre with the roads closed off to traffic so you will have plenty of places to spend your money. haha. The fashion will be the same as London. As summer kicks in, the fashion seems to be the minimum to cover the essential parts. haha. Tank-top/shorts/flipflops are fine when it's warm so bring some. Public transport is fairly good and London is about 75 minutes away with a good rail service. The people are variable, like in any big city - good and bad, but a lot more good than bad I think! You should have a lot of fun!
