Did your parents ever forget your birthday?

Well, today's my birthday and I have to say it's been one lousy day. First, my boyfriend whom I love dearly but who's ever so clueless and who I was expecting to cheer me up shows up without so much as a flower in his hand (see other discussion) and my mom forgot it was my birthday. Well, she actually greeted me but I know that she didn't remember because usually when it's my siblings' birthday she wakes them up with a greeting but today (she had usually wakes me up because we go to work at the same time), she woke me up without so much as a greeting. And it was only after two hours (I think my dad had to remind her) that she went back to my room and greeted me. And it's not the first time that she forgot.
I mean, okay so maybe it's hard to remember 8 children's birthday, but, it still didn't make it any less painful for me. I mean, I don't see her forgetting my younger sister's birthday. Sometimes, maybe there's just something about me that doesn't make me stand out to my parents. I don't know.
PS..To all those people who would respond, I would like you to know that I appreciate it and I really do read all your responses but as much as I would like to comment and say thank you to each and everyone, it's against mylot guidelines to say thank you to each response. So thanks in advance to all.

Happy belated Birthday!!!
Yes my parents have forgotten my birthday. It was either my ninth or tenth birthday that my dad forgot. My birthday is around Christmas time. That morning my mom was already at work when I got up. No one wished me a happy birthday before I went to school. I thought for sure that I would get a surprise when I got home from school. Still non one said happy birthday. I was a little disappointed. Dinner came and went. No birthday cake. Thats when it dawned on me that no one remembered. When my mom got home from work she wished me a happy birthday and asked what did I get. I explained that no one had remembered my birthday but her. She went to ask my dad what happened, he told her he had forgotten to just get one of my Christmas gifts from under the tree to give to me. Since that day I haven't celebrate my birthday. It no longer bothers me if no one remembers.

Aw, that would be SO disappointing if it happened to me. Sorry it happened to you. And to forget your birthday at ten! My father also forgot my birthday 3 years back. When he came home from work he immediately ordered pizza and bought some food to make up for it but I was still hung up on the fact that he forgot in the first place. It just bothers me a lot specially if the other person I was expecting to remember is really special to me.

Just perk yourself up and spend the day happily. Happy birthday. Since I have found this post a little late, it should rather be a belated happy birthday.

Hello, natalie. Don't feel bad if nobody seems to remember that it is your birthday. Most probably, your boyfriend is preparing a surprise for you. If ever he is not coming up with one, just give a shrug of those beautiful shoulders. Life is just like that. There are certain occasions which only us will consider to be important. Life goes on anyway. So give yourself that most needed break the way you perceive to do it today. Good luck and may you find today just as refreshing as you wish it to be.

Happy Birthday! I´m guessing you are turning 26 from the year added onto your name.:D
My parents don´t bother with my birthday now that I don´t live with them and neither does anyone else usually. ALthough this year, my husband got me some shoes and some flowers, but that is very rare! I´m sorry your parents forgot, having 8 kids is no excuse! So, a big birthday hug from me and I´m including a giant cake!:D Happy Birthday!

Thank you! Your husband is so thoughtful which is so the opposite of my boyfriend right now. I live with my parents so it kinda stings that they don't remember by birthday. BTW, I know in America it's against the norm that a 26 year old still lives with their parents but in our culture, you don't leave your parents until you get married.

I'm quite lucky that my mom hasnever ever forgotten my birthday, she always calls up and says happy birthday and we have a chat or she will come over and visit...mind you it is really difficult for us to forget our birthdays as my mom's birthday is the day after mine!
My father has a really good memory for dates too, so I doubt he forgets when my birthday either.

first~happy birthday:)
mine is today.
my dad used to forget, but he forgot everything from his phone number to his own birthday LOL
so,i didn't really fault him.that was across the board.
mom never forgot, but i think that's because she carried my sister and i 10 months instead of 9,and she reminds me every chance she gets LOL
i would maybe get her a nice new day book with all the children's birthdays added in ahead of time.
it may be that she truly is starting to forget things.

Belated wishes on your Birthday. Sad to know that your loving one's forgot that it is your birthday. Your mom might be carried away with the work she might be having and guess you can understand her and won't feel bad about that.
Your younger sister is she the last one among you , then no wonder every one love the last kid more than the others cause the smaller one's need more care than us. So do not feel bad and start enjoying today also.
My parents never forget my birthday, may be they might not wish me regularly on my birthday but they never forget the date.
