Don Imus situation. I don't agree with him calling someone what he did but in my opinion there are other celebraties that use language at the same level or worse and nothing is done to them. Why is it ok for the rappers to call their women H*** and other things but it isn't ok for someone else to call them that? I don't think it was appropriate but if they are going to fire Imus then consequences should be bestowed upon other celeb's and the like too. What do you think? Please let me know.

I think that it went too far. I don't think CBS or MSNBC should have fired him because of his statement(s). I also agree that if people get fired because they offend someone, every comdedian that has ever used the joke "Take my wife--PLEASE" should be gone. Rush Limbaugh and Al Frankin would be off the air for their criticizms on the US & politics. Jay Leno, Dave Letterman, and SNL should be gone for their takes on celebrities and politicians. Donald Trump & Rosie O'Donnell should be outlawed and fired for their "discussions" they've had as well.
That's my 2 cents. Take it or leave it. :)

You know, after I wrote this, I thought I am really offended by what D. Trump called Rosie. He referred to her as a "fat slob." She's still smaller than I am, and she is an awful lot neater. Not a slob in my book at all. If she's a fat slob, then what does that make me??? Certainly not Miss America. LOL! Maybe I should send an email to NBC and tell them to take The apprentice off the air. I could cause a real big stink about it. LOL!!!

There has to be something going on behind the sense so to speak. It may be the threat of law suits was all it took. Imus has been offending people like this for a very long time and kept getting away with it.
It may be this is the first time anyone decided to come after those companies and they couldnāt look the other way any more.
No question what he said was way out of line. I have not seen that broadcast so do not really know what was said but I have seen many in the past. I really think that Imus came to a point he felt he was untouchable. Wrong!
A local radio personality stated what he thought may have been the final straw....one the companies could not over-look. That was IMUS going on Al Sharpen and apologizing. I did not see that either but I can only imagine how he got set up on that show.
So he is gone. To be honest I am surprised it didn't happen quite some time ago. Only his popularity kept him going I think. Not this time.

I agree, the radio broadcasts so many songs with offensive lyrics but nobody sues the artists. What is your bet too, that if this had been a non-caucasian disc jockey, there wouldn't have been any problem. The words that Imus used are commonly used among certain sectors of the population, but Imus is a white haired older caucasian. In my opinion he is a victim of reversed discrimination.
I remember when Imus started shockjocking in the 70s. People didn't like it much at first, but the truth is he is among the first of the breed called Equal Opportunity Offenders...he doesn't pick on just one group. Everyone is likely to become a victim, including "yo momma"!! No one should single out one EOO over another. The world is now full of them. There are whole television programs dedicated to insulting "yo momma", that my kids watch. I have to admit, I like them too, and I am a momma.

I remember this one because he was on the news but I never heard about him before the news. What he did was wrong of course and myself I think the fact that they fired him is a good thing because he is in the radio broadcasting. My husband told me he was wondering why that happened only now even though he has used offensive statements many times before.
I'm sure many celebrities like singers and actors use offensive language too and that is wrong. I wish there was something that can be done about it.
I know this has nothing to do with the subject of the discussion, but we have heard about Paris Hilton getting out of jail... Some celebrities are untouchable. They get away with many things.

Fireing Don Imus is ridiculous .Maybe we should stop watching MSNBC .Sharpton and Jackson just love to stir up trouble .
Why aren't they chastiseing all those rap artists who rank on Black woman all the time .How is it they can say things like my NIG#$%$# .or refer to their woman as being NAP&^%^%$ headed .
Sense when can a shock jock be censored .
AMERICA is founded on freedom of speech .
