Battery Low!!! Who else here hate it when your cellphone gives you an alert that its battery life is running out? And how soon do you recharge your cellphone battery?
Some people recharge their cellphone batteries as soon as they get the "battery low" alert, some even don't wait for it such that they immediately recharge their mobile phone batteries as soon as they have one bar battery life.
However, there are also some people who are taking extra care on their cellphone and battery. They don't recharge the batteries unless it won't turn on for even just a second or two. Well, maybe because they thought that cellphone batteries have to be properly drained before recharging it, as recharging it often even if it still has "a little" life can somehow destroy the battery or even the cellphone itself. :P
Which is which? Do you think it really does matter if you recharge your cellphone batteries properly drained or not? What is your usual routine on recharging your cellphone batteries?
do share your thoughts. :)

When the cell phone was a new thing here in Israel, and i first bought it, i always followed the instructions, and drained the battery before recharging it. Later on, when i needed my phone 24*7, because of work requirements, i just bought another battery and when the first one was drained i just put the other one, in the phone. But a few years later, when i started working in a cellular phone company, and i got the phone free, and i could frequently replace it, i started to recharge it, whenever i thought i have a low battery sign, i never waited for it to be drained. And now i still got this bad habit. So. No. I do not drain my cellphone battery before i recharge it.

When I was still using my old phone, I charge the battery everyday. The phone was old, the battery was old.. no other way.
But with my new phone ^^ (and new battery), I am getting into the "good" habit of letting the battery go flat before charging it. I understand this will prolong the battery life.

that's also one advice I got from a good friend of mine, allowing your battery to go flat before resorting to charging it. :P thanks for the response, lordwarwiz.

I am trying it... hard to know if it works. It would be at least a few years and I would most probably forget this already. Ha! :P

i let my mobile phone's battery drained before recharging it. i do this atleast once a week. it's an advice i got from a nokia representative when my dad bought me my phone 8 months ago. and i say, i just want to follow it to lengthen the life of my battery. and it's there's no harm in doing so anyway.
there are times when i recharge my phone when it's about to only have a line or two left in it's battery's life especially when i am going somewhere and i need it for taking pictures especially when meeting friends.

Yeah, I also do the same, especially when I know I'd be outside for some hours and my battery won't probably last that long. :P

My husband and I have a daily routine of charging our phone every night! I told him that I heard before that doing so is not good and will just destroy the phone early. He said the opposite and so far it works best for us, no worries about low bat and our phone is already 3 years old and no problem at all!

Back when I had my old phone, it got to the point where I was having to charge my battery every day, because it just wasn't staying charged for very long.
When I went to purchase a new battery, the salesman told me that by charging your battery before it's really low or completely flat, it reduces the life of the battery.
However, these days, the batteries are made of different material, and so (apparently) don't suffer from this problem so much.
However, I charge my phone when it gets down to one bar because I use my phone quite a lot for my partner to call me, and we text each other quite a lot too. I don't want to run the risk of being out and about and not having my cell phone available.

I never drain my cell phone, if there is a battery low alert, I will recharge it immidietly. Nowadays cell phone the battery are made from lithium, so suggestion for users, don't ever wait until the battery is off / drained, it will make the battery has low performance for long term. Not like the old cellphone, you have to wait until the battery properly drain, but now... not anymore. You can recharge it all the time, don't have to wait until it drop.

ACtually, when you get a new phone or a new battery, you are SUPPOSED to let the beattery COMPLETELY drain 2 or 3 times in the beginning. You are NEVER supposed to leave it plugged into the charger PAST its full charge, so usually, overnight is bad. Once you have let it drained a few times, you don't have to do that again. But it can be bad for the battery life to OVER charge the battery.

I used to charge my cellphone battery when the power is at the last bar indicator. Then I was told it is bad practice (actually bad for the battery life) to charge the battery when it is not yet drained. Nowadays, I drained the battery till the last drop before I charged it. I have a USB charger which is rather convenient as I bring it along with me and my phone is easily charged with any USB port.

In my case as long as I have battery left even if its one battery i still use it. I just recharge it if my cellphone just turns off. Because as they say you should totally drained your cellphone before recharging it and don't use it while it is on charge because it may cause damage.

when i buy my mobile phone in the mall. the seller told me that i will have to drain my mobile phone before recharging. after three years of using my mobile phone, the battery is ok. by the way my sony ericsson has longer battery life than any other phone.

Well in the case of old cell phones it was advisable to recharge the battery only when the battery had been drained completely.
But as for the new phones (I use Nokia) I have seen that it does not affect the performance and I charge it everyday.
I have a standard charger, a car charger and an extra charger at my work place so that the battery usually stays full.
Although it is still advisable to drain the battery for the first time when you purchase a new cell and that is the only time when I drain the battery of my cell.
The reason for this is being is that suppose you were in some emergency where your cell phone was the only means of communication and the next thing you know is that the battery is low and the cell phone is off and your stuck!
Cell Phone has indeed saved me from very undesired situations and that is the reason that I keep it charged :)

i recharge my cellphone battery as soon as i wake up every morning, that's an hour before i leave for work. i don't really wait for the "battery low" warning. i've had four cellphones and worn batteries had never one of my problems. i believe that you won't have problems with batteries as long as you follow the recommended charging time after purchase.

don't care if your battery drain or not when you charge, i think it not a problem we should consider. Just imagine how long your usually use it before you change a new one, i think most people 1-2 years, so during the period, your battery can keep working but not out of run, however you charge it. so why we need to be bored by such a problem.

no no .. i don't drain my phone battery before recharging it.. those were the days when we have to separately charge our phone battery.. then we have to drain it all before we charge it.. i'm not sure of the purpose but i think it has something to do with the memory .. that's all i know.. :)
