What was in the briefcase in Pulp Fiction?

John Travolta as Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction - Here we see Travolta's character, Vincent Vega, opening the mysterious briefcase that his employer, Marsellus Wallace, has him trying to track down from a group of petty thieves who stole it.

I have an awesome theory as to what was in the briefcase in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. This is something that I love to discuss, fan as I am of the movie. Before I share my theory, however, I'd like to hear a few theories from you guys, to see what you think. I've heard some crazy things over the years.

I know you said please don't say it but I will. It is the soul. You see the band aid on the back of his neck when he is in the bar talking to bruse willis. It is his soul.

As a matter of fact, my theory is that it's Marsellus' soul. I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with the silver cord, but some believe that it's what tethers our soul to our body. It's supposedly located at around the nape of the neck, precisely where Marsellus had that bandaid that you mentioned. As such, his silver cord had been cut and his soul sold to the devil, which would explain why the combination to the briefcase was 666, the so-called number of the beast.

Please tell me you don't think it's the soul. I have heard that so many times. Whether it's true or not, I don't know. I find it hard to believe you can put some one's soul in a briefcase, but then again this is a Tarantino film.

I could never figure out what was in the case, although it's always piqued my curiosity. However, I never believed it was money or diamonds, for such contents would be too simple and logical for Tarantino's writing. I did think jman's response was awesome, and it does make quite a bit of sense, regardless of where such an idea or opinion came from.

I also love this movie and I have thought it was the soul, too. Just as the other people answered before me. Is this your theory elizabethbathory?

I've heard the soul theory before, but the problem I have with it is this: Ringo asks Jules to open the case and Jules opens it. Ringo takes a look at it and asks, "Is that what I think it is?" Now I don't know about you, but I wouldn't know a soul from a cabbage if I saw one. I certainly wouldn't ask, "Is that what I think it is?" lol Then again, we are talking about the Tarantinoverse where seemingly obscure knowledge is commonplace... I kind of like the "Oscar" theory.

i think that it was gold or the laminates to make money. the soulĀ“s theory is very lack to logic because in any part of the film the director gaves some clues of them. i think that it was money
