While I was still with him, my ex gave me a broom for Christmas. I had been sick for 2 years, and had finally gotten healthy again but had gained 35 pounds and had not a stitch of clothes that fit me, but he thought a broom would be a good gift seeing as how he broke the last one.

I woudln't have minded a coffeemaker, but that's because my sweetie knows I like coffee, not because he'd want to give "the little woman" (if he ever called me that even in fun I'd kill him!!!) a gift for the kitchen. LOL Actually he's the cook!!!

I think the worst gift I ever received was from my husband back when we first started dating. It was our first Christmas and we were in college so money was pretty tight, but I put a lot of thought and money into his gift. He bought me a necklace and earrings set from some dollar store (he later told me). It was hideous. The necklace was thick and locked very much like a bike chain with an ugly heart painted gold and silver. I accepted the gift and put the jewelry on. I thought at least he bought me something. Not 30 minutes later my ears started swelling up and I had a major allergic reaction to the jewelry. My neck was green and I broke out in a horrible rash around my neck and where the heart layed on my chest. My ears were infected for over a month. He has never bought me jewlery since, excluding my wedding ring which I picked out. We get a little laugh out of it, but it was awful.

Some years ago for Christmas my sister and I received matching orange, yellow, green and brown plaid vests. Neither one of us knew what to do with the darn things. They were absolutely awful!!! I know people mean well, but honestly, anyone who knew us would have known that we'd never wear such things.

One piece of an inspirational plate set from my grandmother for my graduation. It had the first 3 words of the quote printed on it with another 4 to follow that said the entire quote.. I never received the other 4.
I kept the piece for years, finally threw it out last year when I realized I graduated over 5 years before and the rest probably weren't coming.
