Hi all, can anyone help me, i have very bad sinus congestion, i have had it for as long as i can remember and contributes greatly to my weekly headaches!
I dont have a blocked up or stuffy nose, i dont snore, i dont have any other symptoms apart from the pressure, in my eyes, and forehead and face, it feels like its going to explode sometimes!
I have been prescribed different things for my doctor but it never works then i am disheartened so dont bother returning to get something else, things bought from over the counter such as sinutab etc dont work.
Do you know something i dont, or have any alternative methods i can try?
Please help

I have sinus problems as well.
The only symptom I don't feel that you do is the pressure in my face. Mine starts just before the top of my head and works it's way back along my sinuses down to the back of my neck. I know there is pressure in my eyes, because my vision increases and decreases.
I'm so congested that when I sneeze, my back and arms hurt, and I used to get an average of 80 nosebleeds a month and often I will get very very tired all of a sudden (from lack of oxygen).
Nothing has really helped me either, but here are some of the things I have been told to try (some of which have sometimes succeeded).
1) Boil Water mixed with Sea Salt in a large pot. Stick your head in and inhale through your nose gently (you don't want to drown yourself) keep the solution in your nose for like 30 seconds and exhale.
2) My favourite anti-hystemine is Aerius, by the makers of Claritin, but it actually works
3) Nasal steroids like Nasonex, Flonase and Gen-Beclo
4) That surgery some people get - I have been advised against this many times
5) Allergy shots to prevent further build-up. It won't solve your problem, but it will prevent it from getting worse, and eventually the stuff will clear out.

I too used to get nosebleeds when i was younger, these got so bad that they cauterized (not sure of the spelling) my nose, in normal terms, they stuck a red hot poker up my nose and put it along the vein!
I, for many years have blamed my sinus problems on this, i dont know if, by bleeding, it was my bodies way of releasing pressure, so i believe it may of been a bad thing to have this procedure done :S
Thank you for you're reply and suggestions, much appreciated :)

That was the 4th thing I was talking about.
Although I have never heard anything as bad as what you said about it, only my Grade 9 Geography teacher said it was a good thing for him.
Most people, including my doctors have said it's only a temporary fix.
