Most of the nights, I have problem to get into sleep easily. Therefore, I have been seeing my GP and asking friends for the sleeping tips. Sometimes I have to take the sleeping pills to help me get into sleep. Do you have this problem? How do you deal with it?

When you have a lot on your mind, or worries then your brain remains active and won't shut down when you are trying to sleep! I use Kalms which promotes refreshing natural sleep it contains valerian which is a good sleep enhancer. It does work, I also find that reading a good book or doing a few puzzles, suduko for example tires my brain out so it eventually shuts down and I keep sleep a restless sleep.

Oh my gosh...It takes me at least an hour to fall asleep. My mind goes a million miles a minute when my head hits the pillow. I just accept it. I have 2 children, and get scared of taking somethng for the fear of not waking up to hear them if they needed me. My husband however, can blink too long and be out like a light. I wish I could fall asleep that quick.

Yes, I also feel the same. When I face the problem, I lie down on bed and take my brain to a beautiful beach or basically to any calm place. The trick is to visualize in detail. I think about the graceful palm trees, inhale the salty scent of the ocean, sense the warm kiss of sunshine on my legs etc.
If even now worries start to creep in, I shift my thoughts to one simple positive image – say, a sunflower in bloom; fix it in my mind, then add contours, color and depth. This intensifies my concentration and help to create a barrier for darting thoughts.

Most of the time, I will fall asleep easily. First, usually I will go to sleep late. Second, I am already very tired after a whole day's work. Third, it's very cold right now. So I have no problem to sleep. I think it's not good to depend on the sleeping pills all the time. If you have a problem of sleeping, I suggest you to drink a cup of milk as it will bring you a good dream.

Hello dear Madonal. It has been ten months old since this discussion was posted. So I hope that your sleep has been greatly improved without feeling so difficult to fall asleep. I do not have this problem usually unless I start to think about things that will make me wide awake and spoill my sleep quality. So I think that it is a good idea not to think about anything while lying in bed and do not overeat before sleeping. A cup of milk can be very helpful making you have a sound sleep, my dear friend. By the way, sleeping pills will have some side effects to us if we take them too often because we will later rely on them if we do so and get addicted to the pills. Thanks.

Hi William, I would like to let you know my sleep is much better than 10 monthes ago. Since then I slowly realize it was due to my extra worries and stress with daily life and work that I have relaxed and calm down a lot. Many thanks for giving your advice and offering your help. It is much appreciated.

If I am tired then I am able to sleep easily, if I am not tired then I can not sleep at all, and I end up staying awake tossing and turning all night, only to feel tired in the morning. I usually sleep with my radio on, so if I can't sleep I have something to do.
