Do you have the answers to some "simple" questions kids ask....

Do you know why the sky is blue? or Why do people cry when they're happy?
Sometimes kids ask such obvious questions about life that we truly can't answer off the cuff.
What have you been asked that you truly didn't know how to answer as a parent or adult to a child who's truly in wonder?

Wow...this is a great question. It's hard to say but I try to answer all the questions I get from my 4yo. When she asked me why the sky is blue, I told her that it was Jesus' favorite color. Then she asked me what the clouds were, and I said they were his pillows. LOL! I really get stumpted when she asks me why someone is fat. I hate that!!! I don't want to teach her to be mean, I just try to avoid the weight part and go for something else...like, they sure have on a nice tshirt...and try to go from there.

LOL... what's worse is when they just blurt out "she's fat mommy". You know they're stating the obvious and don't realize that the way they're saying it is improper but how exactly do you tactfully say "yes honey she is?" LOL
I usually apologize for my child then gently tell them that there are some things that you shouldn't say out loud but can talk to mommy with later if you want, when others aren't around. Of course, now that they're teens it's a bit tougher to get around it and apologize for their rudeness other then you shrug and go "sorry, teens!" LOL Just kidding... my kids aren't rude, at least not when I'm around! LOL

When my kids ask questions and I don't have a clue as to what to say I tell them we will have to ask Daddy, because Daddy knows alot more than Mommy does =) And usually my husband will get on the computer with my daughter (if he doesn't know the answer) and they will find the answer together =)

I am myself a child yet and do n't have babies. I like to hear sweet questions of kids. Why is sky blue???? It is very simple question & its answer is very simple i.e. it has water vapours in it so, its blue. I think that kids must ask such questions. It proves them a kid & innocent. Sometimes, kids ask such question that you become relax within seconds & automatically love kids due to their innocent nature.

I usually just try to answer it the best way I know how. lol
And usually the question over and over again with the out there question is why why why over and over again.
I couldn't tell you off the top of my head though the type of questions that I have been asked by a child, but I am sure there has been millions of them. hehe
Great question though...I love it

My kids were always happy with God made the sky blue. I can't answer why we cry when we are happy. I'm an old sap and cry for anything, including Coca Cola, insurance, Kleenex, and Bandaid commercials. I read somewhere when my kids were very young that you only need to give them the simplest answer.
A four year old girl went out to her Daddy who was working on the car. She said, "Daddy, what is s*x?
The father hemmed and hawed and then proceeded to give her the entire birds and bees lecture. "Why did you want to know, hon?" "Cuz Mommy said to tell you dinner will be ready in a couple secs.

LOL... I love that joke too. It's pretty accurate too, since so many of us aren't exactly sure what the kid's asking or how much to tell them!

My question was from a 4 y.o. Why don't planes fall out of the sky? I knew the answer. But what I didn't know was how to make it as simplified as I could so someone at that tender age wouldn't be overwhelmed and be totally confused. So I asked a friend who teaches kindergarten to do it for me. Yeah, I am a bit of a coward.

LOL... isn't it amazing the things they ask? And sometimes you ARE clueless as to how to answer, even if you do know at least the basics of "why".
So did your friend bail you out well enough? LOL

Nope. Haven't a clue. Though I always enjoyed studying science, psychology, etc. in school, I have to admit I really have no answers to those kind of basic questions. I'm eternally grateful that my three newphews and one niece never grilled me on the answers to questions such as these!
