Do the words of certain songs make you feel like they are talking about you, or almost as if they are talking to you? The meaning behind songs when you take the time and listen and really follow what the singer is saying can be so powerful sometimes and either bring you up or take you down. They definetly have an effect on my mood. Do certain songs take you to a place, take you back, make you remember something, or feel a way you use to feel. Do you think music has an effect on depressed people? That it makes them more depressed, especailly when they listen to really dark music that says some pretty dark things ie Nirvana and Pearl Jam. I think it might give kids ideas sometimes.

Yes, good music like ballads carry and relay messages that only the listener could understand. When loneliness strike us we find consolation on music, listening and pondering on every words it utters as if it is speaking on us. We are being moved by the melody.

Its all about the lyrics! if I cant understand the words or the song has no meaning it will never go on my fav singer list... thats why I love Evanescence!

I find it all depends on the song. There are some groups who just play amazing music and I tune out the vocals except for how they add to the melody. Other songs the lyrics are what grab my attention like the Nickleback song "Side of a Bullet" about Dimebag Darrel's murder.
