It's summer here in the Philippines and the temperature is getting too high again!!! Reports say the country's temperature is gonna get even higher on May!! Oh God forbid!! These past few days, I feel very irritated and uncomfortable - I have like 10 mouth ulcers and I just hate it! They say the cause of this is the heat the we're experiencing right now. What I do now is always drink a lot of water and I take half-baths frequently. You? What do you do when it's just so hot?

i agree, it's really super duper hot here in Metro Manila... my relative from the province said that it's hot in the province but Manila is way hotter, she can't stand the temperature here... i would prefer to go to the mall, it's cold there plus no extra expense for the aircon... if i'm at home, i would usually look for cold drinks...

I greatly agree with your relative. I am from General Santos and I have been to Metro Manila twice. I could really attest that the heat there is of a different level. Maybe, the greater congestion there contributes greatly to the increase in heat. Sometimes, I also go to the mall for 'conditioning' because it really is cold there. Thanks for this response!

That is really true when i go out sometimes i get headaches since the heat really is penetrating beyond my skull. It is so uncomfortable these days especially when you are about to leave the house and is about to go to office and travelling via public transportation. I am just fortunate that I am working in an airconditioned office where I could pass the day feeling comfortable and not sweating. After work everything comes back to sweating a lot and only a bath could relieve such uncomfortable feeling you have in your body.

You're like my sister. Everytime she goes to work, she gets headache because of the heat of the sun. It's good that she's in an airconditioned office - like you. The heat these past few days really is agitating - it makes you feel so sticky and all that. Right now I'm actually wishing it'll rain so things could cool up in the environment. Thanks for this response!

Really! I mean the heat right now is excruciating. I have been taking a bath more than once everyday but I still feel very uncomfortable. I have been eating halo-halo and icecream every now and then just to refresh myself. Our house is always experiencing shortage in ice because we need lots of ice just to drink water.

You're right! Sometimes taking a bath really wouldnt give you the lasting comfort that you need when it's summer. Just like the first who responded, your way of adjusting to the hot weather is very Pinoy because you prefer eating halu-halo. Thanks for this response and I hope you enjoy this year's summer [well, if you can.. LOL]!!

There really are studies which prove that the weather could greatly affect the mood of a person - I think your case proves those studies further. I have been drinking a lot of coke before too when I was in elementary but like you, I have also suffered from UTI, so now I'm very careful of what I eat or drink. I guess ice-cold water would be enough anyway. Thanks for this response and I hope you enjoy your summer!

To beat the heat I drink lots and lots and lots and lots of water (ice-cold), I consume 5 liters of water a day. I wear skimpy shorts and cotton top. I take a nice bath every morning and before going to bed. I eat halo-halo everyday, and I don't expose myself under the sun.

I also avoid the sun rays nowadays because going out would make me so irritated. You're right, sunblocks really make the skin greasier and worse, sometimes it gets sticky too. LOL Thanks for this response!

Our summer this year is very humid, not just hot because of the sun's intense heat but very very humid. It is so uncomfortable. Anyway I do drink lots of cold water to cool me and to rehydrate myself because I really do sweat a lot this time. I also take a bath twice or more than that.

ice cream - I love to eat Ice Cream.
Yeah you're absolutely right. I'm also from the philippines. I really feel so uncomfortable almost everyday even at night. I can't stand the heat. These days air condition is a necessity. It seems like we're in dessert. I even take a bath 2-3 times a day just to release the heat. But after an hour I'm sweating again. As of now my room temperature is 34.7°C and 30% humidity. I can't stand this anymore. I drink cold water more often too. And I gain weight lately because I always eat ice cream almost every other day.

I try to drink as much as 12 glasses of water per day because I sweat a lot, especially during summer! Since humidity levels are rising again, it would be best to stay indoors or find a place with air-conditioning. Although this might not apply to all people, we should all take a bath at least once a day! I know it sound too obvious, but I know a lot of people who don't!

Hot weather will drain you physically. Drinking lots of water cannot solve your problem. If you have the chance to get in an airconditioned office or car most of the time, do so. Spend most of the time in a shady area and near windows where you can still feel the breeze. Yes you can still find for a million ways to cool yourself down. Don't drink soda or eat ice cream, it will worsen the situation. Bring an umbrella so shade you from direct sunlight.

It does really drain us all physically. It's just interesting that your suggestions are quite deviant from the norms. You said drinking lots of water or soda and eating ice cream wouldn't help as much. Can you explain more about this? Thanks for this response by the way.

God that must be nice because where Im living here in Canada its been doing nothing but raining on and off for about 3 weeks. I cant wait for the hot weather so I can start getting out and about do active things like biking. If it gets as hot here as it is there then Ill just sit in front of the air conditioner and swim all summer to keep myself cool.

I dont think it's nice in here because the heat that we're experiencing is not the 'nice' type of heat. Here, it feels like the sun is just meters away.. LOL However, I also dont think the rainy weather is any good because there are a lot of things which we cant do. Thanks for this response!

Sorry you are feeling uncomfortable. I feel uncomfortable in the heat too. I usually shower in cool water a lot and stay inside close to the air conditioner...that is about all you can do...and drink lots of fluids..to stay hydrated....

We have that too it feels like summer. This is the dryest and most warmest month we;ve ever had in Holland. It;s awesome i went to the forest and walked a lot.Hope it get's even warmer in May.Drinking water is a must i try to drink as much as i can.But when it's hot we just sit around the house in the shadow and we just enjoy the day.Getting brown is ofcourse high priority when the sun finally shines.
