I've been experiencing migrain for the past 8 years. The symptoms come and go without warning, sometime it can last for more than 3 days without medication. The migrain can hit few times a month to none at all.
Tried few migrain medicine, it helps but found it abit too much for my heart (side effect).
Can someone tell me the alternative ways to stop this?
Thanks

Some of the alternative ways to prevent migraine attacks is to try to reduce your stress and get a right amount of sleep. Once your migraine attack be sure you have a cooling pad. It is good that you don't much depend on medicine.

Hi print or save this advise how to stop migraines !
Healing migraines can be a complex process. Neurofeedback is fairly easy for the client and consists of watching video and listening to music while in a biofeedback loop.
Medications
Medications are used to treat migraine symptoms once they've begun (abortive) and to prevent future attacks (prophylactic). You may have to try several different medications or types of medication before you find the one that is right for you. Good communication with your doctor is important in this process. There are no medications without unwanted side effects.
Usually, your doctor will prescribe a medication with the fewest side effects first. Medications may be prescribed based on the type of migraine that you experience. If your migraines are mild to moderate, you may need only a nonprescription medication to relieve your symptoms. However, if your migraines are moderate to severe and disabling, you may need a prescription anti-migraine medication to treat your symptoms. If you experience frequent migraine attacks, your doctor may suggest a prophylactic medication to prevent migraines.
Other Treatments
While medications are usually the primary medical treatment for migraines, adding complementary therapies may help reduce symptoms and the frequency of your migraine attacks. You may want to try the following after discussing them with your doctor:
* Acupuncture may reduce headache and muscle aches associated with migraines.
* Biofeedback is well known as a stress reduction method. Hand warming biofeedback has about a 50% success rate, but is time intensive. Modern biofeedback is much more efficient and 90% effective because it works directly with brain functioning to optimize performance.
* Herbs and home remedies. These are hit or miss. Some swear by them and others get no relief at all. For example the herb feverfew may help prevent migraines. More research is still needed to prove its benefits.
* There are numerous relaxation techniques and other means to reduce stress in your life. It is important to find something that works for you on all levels. Some caution is warranted here. Some relaxation pursuits are risky, highly time intensive and may work best after changing religions. For example, Yoga has definite health risks. Meditation may take 30 minutes every day. Many new age approaches are rooted in Eastern religions and encourage spiritual devotion.

Caffeine probably will not cure it, but it may help some. If you cannot take prescription medication for it, what about over the counter medicines? Sometimes I will drink something with caffeine and go lay down in a darkened room with a cold pack.
I was also wondering if you could tolerate Excedrin Migraine. It is basically aspirin, Tylenol and caffeine, so it might not bother you as bad as some of the other medicines.
