Yes, I do allow "violent toys" in my house. It's a good opportunity to teach your child. I explain the dangers of the real thing and make my kids aware that there is a difference between the toy and the real thing.
I figure that banning something from my children will just make it seem that much more exciting for them so there isn't much that I do ban. But I always make sure that I'm right beside them with the true facts as well. Because your right about other kids, even when you ban something the kids are going to be exposed to it with their friends and it'll seem even more of a deal than it really should be if they feel that they are getting away with something behind your back.

I dont really think any toys that promote violence are good for children to have. I think intilectual games are best. I child develops social thought processes through many sources including there own play activities.
Having you kids "killing" the other g.i. joes or playin war and what ever develops negative and often violent and aggresive behaviour. Where as games and activities that promote thought and intilectual interaction develop hightened comprhensive levels and usually produce inteligent children, not brutes.
