when you go shopping or grocery, do you always have a list of things that you need to buy? or you simply put in the cart everything that you see and want? since i'm always on a tight budget, i prefer to have a list of items that i should buy in the grocery. if i over estimated the amount of the items, i could add some chocolates into my basket.

Oh yes ....this is a quite funny. I always make a list before go shopping, but i never respect it...lool......some time i even forget to take the list with me. However, i make a list, but when i start shopping i realise that i need much more things than i put on my list .... so i say what the hell ! ...i need that thing and i buy it...the hell with list ! I know this is not a good way to do shopping, i waste a lot of money, but i see at least one benefit: all things that are really needed are on the list, so i buy those things.... well this means i never forget to buy something i need. Have a nice shopping day to all of you !

i usually have a list when i do my grocery shopping. but almost always, i end up buying more than what is in my list. LOL! partly because i usually go aisle by aisle and see if i need something that is not in my original list.

I never make a list because I can never stick to it. I will always see something not on the list and can't resist having it. I have to work on my will power ^_^;

I usually bring a list with me. And I start the list as soon as I know I need something. This way I have a running tally of what I need when I go to the store. This is for two reasons. One, Like many of the above posters I also try to keep to a specific food budget, and two, because I'm forgetful and if I don't have a list I will end up forgetting something important! While the store isn't all that far, it's such a pain to make an extra trip that could have been avoided. I find having a list also helps me from a dietary standpoint. If I have a list of what I'm supposed to get and I keep too it. I am less likely to buy junk food that I really don't need. I guess in the sense a list serves three purposes.

I usually depend on my memories. I never shop in big amount in order to make me controling my budget too. So I usually shopping only for 5-10 items, I will remember it. And if there are more than 10 items, I will using the list.

I very seldom actually make it to a store with a list in my hand. Once a week I look to see what is on sale at what store. I write the items I think we will use down. Then I just leave it sitting on the computer desk when I go shopping. Normally thats not a problem for me because I have the list meomorized. I do happen to buy other things that wasn't on the list most of the time though.

whenever i do the shopping on my own, my mom always makes sure that i bring of "what to buy" with me. i tend to forget what to really buy when i am on my own. and having a list makes it all easier for me. i always bring extra cash with me just in case i might see something i wanna put in the cart as well. and the extra money is usually of help.

I usually have a list of the things that I will buy. Mainly because, I tend to forget simple things easily. So having a reminder or a list will make me remember all the things I need. I usually bring extra cash on me so I won't get short and there's still room for me to buy some extra stuff.

We always have a list with us. We are on a very tight budget. There are times when I can't get what I need because it will put us short of money. So, I try to get it the following week. We have to feed 2 on £60.00 a week. We pray we don't get sick.

yes, i do have a list. I have a list of the things we need at home, except for the food that will spoil more than a week, I buy a 4 weeks supply of the things needed and I make sure that everything is complete, specially the needs of the 16month old baby, my 4 year old, hubby & everybody else and because I don't like going to the grocery for more than once or twice a month.

Yes, I normally know what I want to buy beforehand. I will have a list, and stick to it. If I am not rushing, I will also see what else I might pick up. ^^

I always have a list in my hands especially the basic needed items so that I could stay in my budget and it consume a lesser time finding or locating the items.

The only time I use a list is if I am shopping for other people and they have asked me to get certain things. I think most people and I am no exception have some kind of budget in mind when they shop. I usually keep a running tally in my head of how much things are as I add them to the cart. I will buy *my staples* regardless of the price, but I usually only get other things if I have craving for them or there are good sales. And I of course use those good sales to stock up on those items that I regularly purchase whenever I can. Honestly, I'm not sure how to answer this, because I don't write out any kind of paper list but rather keep it in my head..so uh..maybe both. You be the judge.

We are on a tight budget also. I always make a grocery list and shop with a calculator in hand. Then if there is any money left after getting the essentials i go back and buy treats or stock up on great deals.
