Do you give tips when at a salon? How much?

I sometimes go to the parlor/salon to get my nails done, have a haircut, hotoil, etc. I'm curious as to how much tip you give for every service done? How about for the assistants, do you also give them? How about if there were a lot of people who helped get you done do you give all of them?

I have to say that I'm a very cheap person. LOL. I rarely give tips. The only time I give tips when I'm at a salon is if I REALLY like their service and the haircut they gave me. My boyfriend told me it's not necessary to give tips because they're getting paid for it and it's really not a custom here. I usually give 10 percent of what they charged, kinda like in the restaurants.

Hi! Uhm, ok. Me, on the other hand, I'm kinda afraid that the people who gave me their services might not be satisfied with how much I give or not give them. To think, if I come back I might not get the same satisfaction because I did not give a tip or wasn't enough for them. Just my view. Thanks for giving yours :)

I don't give a tip to the person who have done my haircut or for my manicure/pedicure, unless I get satisfied to the services they made. Lately, when I had my hair trimmed and I was satisfied for my new look, I gave 20 bucks.

I usually give $5 tip for a haircut, $10 tip for a color, and $15 tip for highlights and a color. They always do a fantastic job and I get top rate service for booking appointments. I never think of tipping assistants. It is a good idea though.

I only give small tips 'coz I do not have a lot of money. But I always see to it that I give even a small amount.If I like what they did to my hair I give them half-price of my bill tip. I give some to the assistant. If there are a lot like yours, I usually give it to the person who did most to me and will tell her to be the one to split it among themselves. I make sure that the other assistants are there when i hand the tip. Coz it's hard and costly if i will give them each a tip. I depends how much are you willing to give.
