Do You Start Discussions In "General Discussions"?

Most of my discussions go under Mylot..as we are all Mylotters and Mylot covers everything. When I tag them, then I put more tags which are more relevant to the subject concerned. I have never tried to put it in other subject matters headings. Maybe I should make more of an effort to do this from now on. Does it make that much of a difference to replies? I have been replying to a lot of my friend's posts so I get automatic emails in my in box.But I do occasionally drift off to the odd interest..when I get the chance to.

Yea, it is better *not* to start discussions in general discussions. You get very little response. It doesn't make sense since I don't think that many people browse discussions by interest anyway. But hey, that's what my limited experience tells me. So I got outta of there as soon as I realized this. ;)

mostly i start discussions under general discussion. thanks for your advice that you rarely get answers for them. it was unknown to me. sometimes i start under the interests i have chosen. But i start a discussion when i feel to really ask something.and its very few times that i find to start anything under the intersest i have added.

The only time I will start a discussion in the "general discussion" category is only if I can't find one of my interests that it fits well with. In which case it has been sometime now that I have used the "general discussion" category. Although to me I don't think it matters really where a discussion is started they all show up in the "new discussions" even if one has to wade through most of the pages to get to the good ones.

I haven't started a discussion under the general category because every discussion I posted till date had something more specific in nature.The second reason is of course that not many people are interested in that section of Mylot .So, my discussion could go unnoticed.

I always try to use the mose relevant discussion topic. If one is not readily available I find I use Life or Life in General as most topics can be covered by life. I don't like that so many people put everything in Mylot, as these should be discussion for or about Mylot in general, not for everyday discussions. It makes it difficult when you are looking for specific things to have to sort through all kinds of topics that really don't belong.

i try to stick to the interests as much as possible but there are times when i donot find any befitting interest, it is then when i move to general discussion category. i am not sure about the the impact of categories on number of replies but i think a good, catchy, well framed discussion will going to fetch you responses anyway. here, i should not forget to mention about good, quality friends who do justice to our posts even though they are otherwise stale. good luck omer_ahmed_tabarik.

i usually starts on the general discussions i jsut feel comfortable in that area..where in i could start any topic i want to be posted..

When i was new to this place i used to start my discussions in the "general section".I didn't get much responses out of it.I guess people usually don't search for general discussions i guess.But i'm sure i didn't get much responses not that i'm getting much now.lol. But i'm not asking you not to,its your wish do what you want.

i think u r wrong at the point where u think abt the general discussions.ok tell me which discussion come under the general discussions.i think discussions that are more general to it subjects and are belong to everyone interests should start in the general discussion.

I think it has been more than two months since i started any discussion in General Discussions. At times accidently i start but usually i dont do it. But at my early stage of myLotting, i used to start discussions only in General Discussions, since i was not familiar with myLot. Later one of my friend adviced me to start in some interest so that i get more response :)

Yes, i do, I usually start discussions in general discussions, because i really thing that most of my topics are on general things in life. I also know that the first people that see my posts are the people that are on my friends list, and and then they will decide to answer it or not. after that i know that every person that finished looking at his group of interests, will go and read discussions in the general field here in mylot, so it does not really matter to me that much. I really think that a good post will find his way to most of the people.

no i never.because it does not reach out to particular set of audience.not many see those in my opinion.Instead if we are specific in topics then that will be better and will gt more responses than starting the same in generic discussions. Lot many people who are really interested in specific discussions don't often goto general discussions and hence i dont do that at all

I have to tell you that at begining(that mean when i start few days a go) i start discutions in "general discussions",but now i am very careful to start every discussion where is need. I saw that in this way is more easy tp manage your discution interest... augusta

I almost never use the General Discussion category. I usually put everything under an interest. The reason is that more people seem to be able to find it under and interest than in General Discussion. The only time I used General Discussion is when I really can't find the right category to put it in, or I don't know if there's a category. Sometimes, if it has more than one category, I will also put that discussion in the General Discussions.

I did in the beginning, Before I new the site and read all the rules. After I started creating discussions under their subjects. I think it's easier to find under interests and people that have those interests will be able to find them when they're checking their interests - if they do.
