Why 1 + 1 is equal 2? why it can't be 3?

I'am a person that always want some explanation and reason to the thing..Can you tell me why 1 + 1 is equal to 2? why it can't be 3? Is there any exact explanation about this question?

coolseeds You are distorting the theory. A+B=C A is a variable B is a variable C is the sum of the 2 variables. A variable can be any # so it isn't A+A=C A+A=2A which is A multiplied by 2 A and B can be the same #. In this case it is 1.

coolseeds Needless to say it all amounts to A+B=C] It doesn't need +/-. That is part of the variable.
