Why changed King Kobe his 8 for nr 24??

Can someone tell me when and sepcialy why Kobe turned in his 8 for nr 24? I hope you can help me.

rbnarvasa Kobe changed his jersey number from 8 to 24 during the offseason. I think the number 24 is his old jersey number when he was playing high school basketball. The number change symbolizes the transformation from the old Kobe (ballhog) to the new one who shares...
